We are continuing to meet on Monday's from 4-5pm at the Gahagan Park track. This month, our team was able to volunteer at a new location- The Mayuex Barn! The Mayuex's allowed teammates to come to their family's barn and care for 5 of their horses, which included feeding, grooming, and leading the horses. Teammates also got the opportunity to learn about other sites on the property like their catfish pond and hay barn! Some of our teammates even got to maneuver a tractor! We are so excited to build this relationship and provide more community engagement opportunities for our team! |

Huge shoutout to a few of our teammates this month: Anthony, Donna, and Christian celebrated their Golden Goal party in March. They have been working very hard to earn leadership points in order to celebrate with a golden goal party. Once they have earned a certain amount of golden goals, we get to celebrate their hard work. Each teammate gets to decide what they want to do to celebrate this accomplishment. Anthony and Donna, both chose to have an ice cream party. Our team celebrated with Christian by watching the movie, Spider Man. Check out the picture below of our teammates that got to celebrate their golden goal this month. Great job Anthony, Donna, and Christian! Stay tuned to see who earns their golden goal next month. |

Our team has been learning about the human body for the last few months in self-care. We have been learning about bones, muscles, and organs! We have also been doing hands-on projects such as paper mache brains, lung activities, and making a life-sized human body to label different parts of our body. |

The Mt. Pleasant and Summerville group have been working very hard this month in restaurant skills. Our main goal is for everyone to become as independent as possible in a restaurant setting. Some things that we have been working on this month are waiting in line, ordering food, paying, and table manners. Everyone has been doing a great job and some Teammates even tried certain foods for the first time. Great job, restaurant groups! |

On March 29th, we held our first Beyond Connection Event of the 2023 Year. The first event was all about getting to know our team and what we do at Beyond BASIC. These events also provide opportunities for caregivers to socialize and get to know one another. What a fantastic turn out we had for this event! If you could not make it, no worries, because Beyond Connections plans to hold an event on the last Wednesday of every month. We hope that these events will allow caregivers to feel connected, get support, and grow with each other.
Check out Beyond Connections on Facebook for updates and for a recorded live stream of our first meeting. Please contact Ashley Infinger at at ainfinger@beyondbasiclifeskills.com, if you have any questions. |

A message from a BB volunteer: |

"My experience volunteering has been amazing! There is no other place where you can go and be surrounded by the most positive, kind hearted people. Volunteering at the social nights are one of my favorite ways to spend Wednesday evenings." -Sierra Johnston, Summerville, S.C. |
