WoW hopes you and your families had a peaceful holiday season. We are so grateful for all the support we received this past year and enjoyed a few days to relax and reflect on 2022.

November's Activities

Celebration of Success Event

WoW kicked off December with our Annual Celebration of Success event on December 3rd at the Salt Lake County building. This event is an opportunity when WoW recognizes the women this year that reach their goals of becoming independent, the event was free and open to the public. It is motivating for the community to see women recognized for even the smallest step on the path toward self-reliance. Members of local government and businesses came to help us to recognize our ladies, ensuring further ties between our new neighbors and their new home!

We were honored to have Kristin Andrus speak and have a Napalese dance performance by one of our clients. We celebrated 18 clients from all over the world-- all of who had accomplished a variety of goals. Thank you to all who helped support this event, we are so proud of our hardworking clients!

Light the World

Thank you to everyone who visited the Giving Machines this month at City Creek center. We loved seeing pictures of our community donating to the machines and were so grateful to be part of the Light the World campaign this year along with so many other incredible organizations.

ShePlace Holiday Social

WoW was excited to attend the ShePlace holiday social at the Modern West Art Museum this month. This was a large networking event for Women in Business and Entrepreneurship. WoW brought ten clients to the event who are interested in starting or already own a small business! ShePlace also announced that WoW would be joining their online platform as one of their partners. Our board President, Debbie, presented about WoW's mission and we were all able to make many valuable connections and celebrate the holiday season with inspiring women in the community! We are excited to grow our partnership with ShePlace throughout 2023.

100 Women in Finance

This month Samira was invited to present about WoW to 100 Women in Finance sponsored by Grandeur Peak. This group of women strives to strengthen the global finance industry by empowering women to achieve their professional potential at each career stage. This was an amazing networking opportunity for WoW and a group we are proud to be connected with.

Salt Lake Women's Real Estate Council

Megan and Samira accepted a donation from SLC Women's Real Estate Council. This was the money from a charity gala they hosted earlier this year. We are so grateful for their generous support!

True Loyal Connections

Megan, our Development Director, had the opportunity this month to present about WoW to True Loyal Connections, a business networking group that meets regularly. We love sharing with our community about the important work WoW does.

If you are interested in having a representative from WoW come to speak to your company, church, or community group about our work and how you can get involved please reach out to our Operations Manager, ryan@womenofworld.org.

WISE Community Practice

WoW was able to host the WISE Community Practice meeting at our office this month. WISE, which stands for Workforce Inclusion & Successful Employment is a new program offered by Salt Lake County that we are excited to be a part of.

This program is meant to help low-income and diverse communities launch into high-paying jobs and has provided grants to support individuals navigating workforce development programs. We are grateful to have been selected as one of the Community-Based Organizations to receive this grant!

Annual Appeal Donations

During the holiday season, WoW sent out our Annual Appeal, a last-minute chance to gather donations for the year. We are so grateful for all the generous responses from our community. Thank you to organizations such as Living Home Construction & Design and the Utah Transit Authority as well as many private donors for their support towards forcibly displaced women in the Salt Lake community. Every dollar counts in promoting our mission of self-reliance!
