From Designing Legacy

to Shaping Progress

#Since1992

In 2022, PICCO will celebrate its 30th Anniversary!

We are proud of our 30 year legacy for delivering quality services to our global customers and partners. We honour them by promising to continue our leadership in Stone, Structures, and Residential engineering into 2022 with new initiatives and engagement. Some exciting things are planned for the year ahead, starting with our newsletter refresh. We will not only share what we are working on; but, will focus on making the connection between education, people, and the impactful creative experiences that define our relationships with all of you. Growing our technology capability even more, sharing our communication excellence, and endeavouring to support sustainable businesses and practices will fulfill our purpose for ‘Shaping Progress’ at PICCO.

As the 2021 Past President of the Natural Stone Institute (NSI), I was fortunate to have shared a mandate for progress and vision. Our work on the NSI sustainability program, supportive green initiatives, purchase of the NSC 373 Sustainability Standard, by-law changes, and Dimension Stone Design Manual updates are some of the accomplishments we are proud of. We achieved some very important objectives in 2021, and my work and engagement with the NSI will continue toward realizing consequential goals and driving the industry into the foreseeable future.

We at PICCO are excited to recognize this new year with gratitude and enthusiasm for many amazing projects to come, strong relationships to nurture, and new clients to foster.

New Salesforce Tower

#Chicago

In 2018, Salesforce announced its plan to erect a 60–storey tower located along Chicago’s famed downtown waterfront. As the building approaches completion, PICCO is proud to have contributed to this exceptional project with stone engineering consultancy and shop drawings for the interior public lobby and common areas. Quality craftsmanship, effective solutions, and timeless design always combine to define an enduring and iconic project experience.

We were reminded of the significant natural stone buildings in Toronto by a 1997 University of Waterloo article, still relevant today. Enjoy the geology approach and technical perspective offered by the authors, which we found interesting and informative. As they present many iconic Toronto buildings built with natural stone, explore our gallery for new Toronto projects sure to make the list in the future!
