Action in Middle School (AIMS) Virtual Kickoff EventMay 17, 2023Registration closes: 11:59 p.m., Monday, May 15 The Action In Middle School Committee (AIMS) will host a virtual AIMS Kickoff 2023-2024 event from 5:30-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 17th. This will be an informative session tailored for 6th and 7th graders looking to be involved with MASC next year! This is the perfect opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, fun group sessions, and collaborative activities – created just for middle schoolers. The regional president, 2nd vice president (middle school representative), and the student member on the Board of Education (SMOB, SROB, Commissioner) by virtue of their position are voting members of the MASC executive board. Maryland Youth Advisory CouncilApplications close June 30 Maryland Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) gives Maryland youth the opportunity to provide feedback and recommendations regarding public policies and programs. MASC is able to appoint two students to serve a two-year term. Two students appointed last year are serving their second year in 2023-2024. Be sure to check "MASC" on how you heard about this in order to be considered for an appointment by MASC! |

Maryland State Board of Education – New Board Member Congratulations to Dr. Joshua L. Michael Dr. Michael once served on the State Board as its student member (SMOB) in 2005-2006. He began his career as a public school teacher, receiving his Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), and a Master of Science in School Leadership from Johns Hopkins University. He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Sherman Family Foundation. |
