As we stand on the brink of a new year, it's time to reflect on the whirlwind that was 2023—a year filled with artistic highs and poignant exhibitions. The journey commenced with the powerful "Pain of Slavery" exhibition at the Niffo Gallery in Rotterdam, a visceral exploration that left an indelible mark on all who experienced it.
This impactful exhibition didn't stop there; it embarked on a cross-continental journey alongside the compelling "I Am" series, delving into the rights of the child. We witnessed these exhibitions grace the walls of spaces in Chicago, Detroit, and Martha's Vineyard, thanks to the tireless efforts of Pamela Eatman. A heartfelt thank you is owed to Pamela for making these exhibitions a reality.
Looking ahead to 2024, the dream continues to unfold. Blackbird Gallery, in collaboration with the visionary Pamela Eatman, is preparing an educational program linked to the "Pain of Slavery" exhibition. Aimed at children from 4 years old to high school, this program promises to be a transformative experience. We aspire to involve not only the younger generation but also their parents, fostering understanding and empathy. The kickoff is scheduled for February 1st, 2024, aligning with Black History Week for the Farmington Hills School District.
In this new chapter, the "I Am" series will stand alone in a solo exhibition, sharing the spotlight with the poignant "Pain of Slavery." I am thrilled about this venture and the potential it holds for fostering meaningful dialogue and understanding.
Amidst these exciting developments, I am also immersed in creating artworks for my upcoming series, "Whispers From the Shadows." The motivation behind my work stems from a global perspective—one that advocates for respect and equality. I see art as a powerful tool for positive change, not only for myself but for the greater good.
To connect with you all more intimately, I plan to share live painting sessions on Instagram and Facebook. It's a way for me to invite you into my creative process, fostering a sense of shared inspiration.
And, speaking of shared experiences, I'm delighted to announce that the booklet "The Pain of Slavery" is now available for purchase on Amazon. This publication encapsulates the essence of the exhibition and serves as a lasting memento of this profound artistic journey.
As we approach the holiday season, I want to extend warm wishes to all my art lovers. May this festive season be filled with joy, creativity, and the warmth of shared experiences.
Wishing you a Happy Holiday Season and looking forward to an artful 2024!
Warm regards,
