November 2023: Volume 1, Issue 3

🪴 Linda's Letter 🔭

October was so busy that this newsletter is officially late! I met Iain Armitage from Young Sheldon and won an International Star Kids Award. I also went on the E Train Talks podcast and attended author events across Virginia. And I went to my first Homecoming Dance! I got an email from Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, and I even made my own James Webb Space Telescope costume for Halloween! Phew!

Thanks to your support, I replaced all of my Larva Library viewing tanks! The new tanks are stronger and much better for storage, transportation, and viewing. I can't wait to send them out to local classrooms! Your purchases from my website and at my live events made it happen. THANK YOU for supporting my goal of improving science education!

In book news... We've sold over 700 copies of Linda and the Mysterious Footprints! I think it's time to set a really BIG goal, don't you? Let's get to 1000 books sold! I know we can do it! Please consider going to LindasLab.org to get your copy today! My book makes a great gift for kids, teachers, and librarians!

Be brave and dream big!

What can YOU do

to reduce your carbon footprint?

CHANGE YOUR LIGHT BULBS!

Switching from incandescent light bulbs to LEDs saves you money and helps save the planet! LED bulbs cost a little more, but they use a quarter of the energy and last up to 25 times longer. The change to LEDs can save you $225 a year and reduces your carbon footprint. And of course, keep turning off lights and unplugging appliances when they are not in use.

YOU can make a difference!

🐢 Turtle Talk 🐢

Did you know Darwin is a girl?

I love girl power! But how do you know if a Box Turtle is male or female?

Male Box Turtles typically have bright orange and yellow markings on their heads are legs, and bright red eyes. Females have a dull yellow or brown coloring, and brown eyes. Males also have hind claws that are thicker and more curved than female hind claws. And the carapace, or upper shell, of a female Box Turtle has a more pronounced dome shape than a male. Cool!

You can invite Linda and Darwin to visit your school, library, or bookstore! To request an author read aloud or speaker event, send an email to Linda@LindasLab.org.
