Hooker Hugs to all Sister Hookers!
This has certainly been a year of changes and that’s no exception with the Matlacha Hookers.
While we have been actually meeting for the last two General Membership meetings,
we have not had the needed Quorum of 32 attendees to make motions or vote.
We have months of minutes and financials to approve!!
With Joanne’s help; we’ve offered WebEx Attendance both times.
No one participated in June; however, we had five who joined the meeting last week.
We will continue to offer this as long as you feel safer at home than attending a meeting.
This will also enable those who are away for the summer to participate!
We’ll make one minor change next month so that it will be a better experience for
those that login or call in;
I’ll use the microphone for better communication.
Remember that if you do not have a desktop, laptop or smartphone to
participate by camera; you can still simply call in.
The WebEx details will be included in the Herald immediately proceeding
meetings and will be posted on our Website.
Sadly; at this time it appears that we will be unable to host the P.I.E. Derby this year.
Olde Fish House is closed indefinitely; no crowds allowed, social distancing would be very
challenging for all of us and the Board Agreed to adjust our efforts.
Rebuilding the Library and/or providing Teachers with the tools that they need to
teach children on all fronts was talked about at the July Meeting.
We’ll do something and there will be more to follow; just no ‘social event’ this year.
I would like to schedule a Kick Off (Gee, what should we call this?!) Meeting to share ideas.
Many of us will be meeting our new Principal on July 28th at 8:30am to
present this year’s Back to School Supplies.
We’ve been told that his role at the NFM Academy for the Arts included fundraising
during these trying times. Perhaps we can schedule a WebEx meeting later that week.
Please email me or text if you can attend either Wednesday the 29th or Thursday the 30th at 6:00pm/6:30pm
for about an hour to an hour and a half; ruscikdj@embarqmail.com or 239-910-3829.
Let me know which date and time work for you.
Please keep yourself and all of us safe by wearing masks, social distance and wash your hands!
If all of us and our families follow the CDC guidelines we can get a handle on
Covid to at least flatten the curve.
Pray for a vaccine sooner than later, too.
Air Hugs and Stay Well!
Madam DJ
