Our Biweekly Newsletter -  2 May 2018

Check out what we've been up to so far this month & what's coming up next!

Thank you for visiting the shop and for bringing along your friends!

Happy May!

The weather has finally warmed up, which means we'll have more Free Tables out!  We have a range of items on our free table from various books, fabrics, yarn, etc.  Be sure to keep an eye out on our social media pages - FaceBook, Instagram, & Twitter to be in the know about this as well as other things that are happening with the shop such as Super Saturday Sales, Classes, Events, and more!

Waste Not

We appreciate all of the donations that come in to our store!  As soon as your donations arrive, we weigh them to total up the tons that don't get thrown away or end up in a landfill.  To this date we're up to 18.011 tons!

The three "Rs" is something we try to be mindful of daily!  Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.  We have wonderful volunteers at the shop who donate their time and effort in making these fun Scrappy Bags for our shoppers in Scrappy Land.  Shoppers can keep the scrappy bag for their own use but also to bring back to Reuse when they're shopping again or to donate back to the shop!

BYOB - Bring Your Own Bag!

Our volunteers also make these lovely shopping bags for SewGreen customers.  It's pretty handy to keep one or two of these in your car or purse to carry your items instead of plastic.  Don't forget to bring yours with you on your next shopping trip!

Another thing that we really appreciate when you bring your donations in to SewGreen is to make sure that you've taken the time to read through the list of things we can accept and the things we cannot accept.  These are all listed on our website under - Donations.  We also have specific days and times listed for donation drop offs to ensure that someone will be able to help assist you when you arrive.

Please try to bring your items in clean reusable paper, clear plastic or fabric bags, and/or plastic bins.  If you bring items in cardboard, please be sure to take the boxes back with you as it's difficult for us to store, or break down and recycle them.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is coming up on the 13th of this month!  How about visiting the Susan B. Anthony Neighbourhood, and take a stroll through the Susan B. Anthony Square Park.  Have a snack and some coffee at 1872 Cafe, which is across from our store.  Maybe learn something new together in one of our Classes!  We also offer gift certificates if you're looking for a special little gift for Mother's Day.

Shannon and her daughter Lilly have been enjoying classes at SewGreen on Mondays!  They are pictured here with Joanna in the Crochet Market Bag class.

Kids Sewing Club!

The above pictures are also from Kids Sewing Club.  Graham on the left, made a bag with pockets.  He plans to add handles to it!  On the right, Greta and Mackenzie made these fun stuffed animals!

Inspired Projects

We're getting even more inspired by your creative projects!  Don't forget to send us your project pictures made with materials from SewGreen@Rochester by sending us an email to sewgreenrochester@gmail.com

These two photos were sent by Lara.  The above photo is of cute little gnome blankets that the boys wove during Kids Sewing Club!  And the photo on the right is a prayer shawl that she made for her Grandma.  Thank you so much for sending these photos Lara!

Nicole stopped by the shop to show us this fantastic swimsuit made with material from the shop!  Thanks for stopping by to show us your work!

Thank you all for sharing your pictures, and for your donations!  If you'd like to share pictures of your projects with us, please send an email to - sewgreenrochester@gmail.com.

Thank You!

A big thank you to Dorothy who taught the Beginner's Needle Felting class on Saturday!  We feel pretty lucky to connect with so many talented people who bring something new to learn in our community.
