Hey there, eveybody!  It's David James here with a two-parter:  

First, a quick note to thank you for all the support and interest in my various musical endeavors over the years.  I appreciate all the shows you've come to, the CDs you've purchased, the criticisms you've given, and suggestions you've made.  Especially to those folks who have been to both GPS and Afrofunk Experience shows: thank you.  To those who contributed to the crowdfunding campaign and helped me record the GPS album: thank you!

  Now for a short break from live band stuff – just a month off, really – while I take on something of an adventure. 

Which brings us to the second part: 

   I've been hired to understudy a role in an upcoming A.C.T. production of Father Comes Homes From the Wars Parts I, II, III by Suzan-Lori Parks.  The rehearsals begin next week, previews start on April 25th, opening night is May 2nd, and the play runs through May 20th at A.C.T.'s Geary Theater.  

   I have only ever seen about five or six plays in my life, and two of them have been by this playwright, so I am excited!

I don't yet know which of the previews I'll be scheduled to perform in (at least one of these), and I don't know when else I might take the role – the character, by the way, has the title of "The Musician" (he shows up intermittently with an acoustic guitar and sings/plays) – but if you're interested in finding out when I might be portraying "The Musician", let me know, and if I have advance notice, I will send you an email letting you know.
