Mr. Jackson will join a select group of U.S.-based classical ballet instructors with a proven commitment to teaching students from diverse backgrounds, chosen by the School of American Ballet (SAB). As a Visiting Fellow, Mr. Jackson will attend two sessions during SAB’s Winter Term, where he will observe a range of SAB classes, attend demonstrations and meet with faculty to discuss relevant topics in dance education.
In conjunction with Mr. Jackson’s participation, Berrend Dance Centre will receive an award to support its diversity-related initiatives. Mr. Jackson first joined Berrend Dance Centre/Olney Ballet Theatre as summer faculty in 2006. Today he is an integral part of our faculty – a teacher, choreographer in residence, and rehearsal assistant – and we are thrilled to benefit from his selection as a 2017 National Visiting Fellow at SAB.
