Are you subconsciously holding onto your problems because you believe they are giving your life meaning?
Think about it.
Are there areas of your life that you are trying to fix but haven't yet because you keep going back to the problem instead of the solution?
It's natural for us, as humans, to be problem solvers. And subconsciously there's something fun about making problems for ourselves because we get to work to solve them. Oftentimes, we find ourselves revisiting the same problem... and let's take a moment to reflect on this.
Is it because you believe you deserve to stay stuck?
Is it because you believe that the problem is your comfort zone?
Is it because you believe that the problem is giving your life meaning?
So, if you are holding onto your problems because of one or all of these reasons, it's because you are clinging to the feeling it gives you.
That could be the feeling of pain because you are using this problem as your comfort zone. That could be the feeling of intimidation because being resilient and moving forward is too big to imagine. That could be the dopamine (feel-good) emotions you experience each time you make small progress, just to fall back again, because you have proven to yourself that you can, in fact, move forward.
The emotions that come with holding onto our problems could be the reason that brings our life meaning. If we are the ones holding onto the problems, we are the ones who can overcome them.
We established that as humans we like to look for solutions... think about the progression of humankind, it was simply surviving and overcoming adversity. Naturally, we have a brain that wants to solve every problem in our life. And if we were able to solve every problem in our lives... we would have the answer to everything and we wouldn't have anything to work for or be excited about.
Coming back to the question... are you subconsciously holding on to your problems because they are giving your life meaning?
I want to encourage you not to hold onto the same problems as giving your life purpose but rather realize that you might be creating your own problems subconsciously. Recognizing this pattern can help you to heal. You can ask yourself the questions above on why you haven't fully moved forward from the problem that keeps holding you back.
Becoming aware is the mindset shift. Taking this to the next level is reflecting that you already have the solution to your problems, but your meaning could be holding you back.
Reflect on this... and the next problem that comes your way will be an obstacle that is easier to tackle. This is the true power of your mind and the way you build resilience.
Here's to problem solving and moving forward!
