Please welcome, Sofia/Zosia, who is our first goat resident, she is eight years old. Her former family was Polish so they called her Sofia/Zosia interchangeably. They very much loved her but recently decided to rehome her. She came to live with us on March 4, 2023. We are so very grateful they choose us. Sofia is still getting used to life at the farm but she is making herself right at home. She was not used to being around dogs, so we were happily surprised that she seems to adore Koko-Love and really likes Bear. Her and Harley are still figuring things out. So far, her and Charlie(Ram) are indifferent towards each other. She also loves to hang out near the fence line with her new cow siblings. She is very vocal and makes her likes and dislikes very known. She also happily follows Koko-Love, Bear and Jennifer everywhere including trying to follow them into the house. |

Food Spotlight of the Month |

Currently, there are so many tasty pre made vegan cheese products. However, like traditional cheese products, they can be costly and have a long list of ingredients. One easy and healthy way to add cheese flavor is Nutritional Yeast. It is a great source of plant-based protein, B vitamins, and trace minerals. Also, it inexpensive and a little goes a long way. I know several non vegans that like it so much, they add it to popcorn, as a seasoning. I am not the biggest fan of the taste alone. However, cooking with it is a simple and healthy way to give food a mild cheesy taste, that I love. Please click on links below for some of my favorite recipes that include Nutritional Yeast: |

Rescue Spotlight of the Month |
|
|
This month’s sanctuary spotlight, Magnolia Exotic Bird Sanctuary, is truly a remarkable organization as they recently took in 90 parrots all at once. These parrots were seized by authorities due to horrific animal abuse and neglect. Taking care of one parrot is expensive and time consuming, never mind 90 which probably have extensive medical needs. This is on top of the already 100 special parrot residents they have living at their sanctuary. Magnolia Exotic Bird Sanctuary is dedicated to the rescue and protection of unwanted, abused, neglected, homeless and abandoned companion parrots. Please click on their link below and give them some love on their social media and donate if you are able to. |
