Mid October Newsletter

As we begin to settle indoors, a few reflections. The summer was simply wonderful, and a great time to be outdoors and alive. Most of us would agree this was one of the nicest or well appreciated summers in recent memory. Certainly on our hilltop, the clay courts played great, the grounds well-appointed the view majestic, and a feel good vibe abounded. We are taking that attitude indoors. Our playing spacing keeps each group contained. Our lounge, acting as an entrance/exit minimizes social gathering, yet our mantra socially connect at a physical distance remains embedded.  We have streamlined/uniformed our COVID messaging and signage, and are checking all members in as part of our safety precaution. As local virus numbers are increasing and winter is not far away, we do require the following:  In addition to wearing a mask into our building and through our entrance way, please go straight to your court after checking in and sanitize/wipe down your bench after playing. As much as we would man the task in house like we did this summer, with six indoor courts being played on all day it becomes an impossible task for our desk employees. Like a fitness facility, we need to rely on you. And last but not least, we ask that when you gather on court by the benches that if you are 6 ft or less apart, to put on your masks, or simply avoid gathering that close. Thank you!

And for parents whose children are in our lesson program, a reminder that while we ask you to not come on court during lessons, children under 6 can be accompanied by an adult to our Quickstart programs. This is limited to one family member on court we ask that you remain in the bleachers on Court 5 in order to help maintain our social distancing policies.

On a side note, our newly resurfaced US Open blue courts are getting rave reviews. Members love the slower speed, even bounce and secure footing. The color scheme is lively and inviting. Were very happy with how they turned out.

Pickleball

We just expanded our Pickleball operations, laying down lines on cts 5 & 6, creating 4 courts with bleacher access. This gives us the ability to run shootouts, clinics, exhibition and tournaments. We will have detailed information on shootouts and clinics in the very near future.  One aspect that sets us apart from other pickleball facilities is our ability to offer court rentals. Below is pricing.

$20/hour 1 ct

$36/hour-2 cts

$30 1 ct -1 ½ hrs

This year we will offer a Pickleball only membership $50.

We are now affiliated with “Z” Zorano, Mr Pickleball in the Southern Tier, who will be guiding us in our efforts.

We do strongly encourage per ITPTA guidelines that you wear a mouth (not nose) covering when playing during the virus pandemic. The distancing between partners is closer than tennis, and we are taking an abundance of precaution. Clearly, we are excited about our continued foray into the Pickleball arena, and embrace the game feeling it a great fit and compliment with tennis.

We already have two customers taking advantage, Trace & Michael

Juniors

Our JCTP is off to a great start. Our full progression pathway is already producing good results and we are seeing our juniors improve not only at a more rapid pace, but enjoying the game even more with transitions balls and modern drills. One can see the interest growing, and our retention rate improving.

Our 6 week JCTP session and two different offerings at each level are proving popular, providing our junior with weekday as well as weekend options and the opportunity to drill twice a week, as well as keeping the up-front cost down. Our junior brochure is linked here, and can also be found on the BTC website. Please review carefully to find the right class for your child. Next session starts the week of October 19 and runs through Nov 24.

We are hosting a Level 6 tournament October 23-25. This is a perfect level for our better juniors and we encourage you to play! One must enter online by clicking on this tny link

Entry deadline is Sun Oct 18

JTT

Is back! We will run our 14U Fridays 6-7:30pm and 18U Saturdays 4-7. With the virus, we have made some format changes to minimize the amount of juniors who show weekly. We will use a college style format playing 3 doubles and 6 singles for a match, cumulative scoring. You will play both singles and doubles each match! We will only have the 6 players scheduled to play attend. We will not have a drill court. Were excited about this new format and hope to field 4 teams in 18U like last year, and at least 2 in 14U. October is sign-up month and there is a sheet at the desk counter. You can also call us 722-3491 or e-mail us at BTC@tennisctr.com. We would need your name, e-mail, cell phone age and school you attend. Tentative start date is November 13 & 14.

The sooner one signs up the better, giving us time to organize and schedule. If you are interested in playing, please contact us and we will place you on a team, or if you would like to field a team, that would be tremendous. Please e-mail Kris Starke at proshop@tennisctr.com
