Monday September 23rd is the Autumnal Equinox. The word "equinox" is derived from the latin for "equal night". We will have 12 hours of night, and 12 hours of day. It marks the end of summer and the beginning of the sewing and needle art season. So stop in the shop and get inspired to start, or finish, those great projects. Our holiday fabric is on display for easy viewing, and we have pre packaged bags of buttons for the crafter in you. Our yarn is ready for those hooks and needles. We have a special event presented by "Experience Fiber Art". Read on for the details. The October calendar is posted on our website. Visit our website for lots of info at sewgreenrochester.org. Experience Fiber Arts, inc. Special Event |
Experience FiberArt, Inc, is a non-profit organization that strives to educate and provide an opportunity for freedom of expression through art using fiber. A team of instructors from Experience FiberArt will be at SewGreen@Rochester to host a two-part event on October 10th and 17th from 5:00 – 7:30PM. |
Each participant will bring a photo that holds some meaning. The Experience FiberArt team will discuss how to enhance your photo digitally. Once enhanced, the Fiber Arts team will digitize it onto fabric. Ideas for working with various types of fabric and making patterns to create an artistic fabric frame for the digitized photo will be taught. The digitized fabric photo, and creative fiber frame will then be sewn into a pillow. See the examples in the picture above that show both fronts and backs of three example pillows created in this class. |
