Three Part Invention

In May, Nora Suggs, John Arnold and I premiered a program for two guitars and flute. We have continued to develop the program and will give performances on October 7th and 8th.* The concerts will include trio pieces, guitar duets and flute and guitar duets, and offer the unique opportunity to hear two guitars built by Australian luthier, John Price.

*The concert on October 7th is open to residents of Kirkland Village Retirement Community and their guests. The concert on October 8th is part of the programming for Kalmbach Park subscribers.

"April Twilight" - Premiere Performance

On October 14th, The Fairfield Duo (Candice Mowbray and Nora Suggs) will be joined by vocalist Cora Gamelin Osenbach for a concert at Trinity Episcopal Church in Pottsville, PA. The concert will include the premiere performance of Garth Baxter's "April Twilight" for voice, flute and guitar. A Maryland-based composer, Baxter's style "combines the traditions of form and clear melodic writing with the use of contemporary approaches to harmonies."(1) The program will also include works by Faure, Boutros, and Schubert. It All Rolls Back Around

Doug Benson, the owner of Commodore Recording Studio in Thurmont where I recorded Reverie, has released the track, "It All Rolls Back Around." Featuring 62 musicians from MD, PA and WV, the track was created to share an uplifting message and showcase the diverse artists who record in his studio. Eventually, Doug would like to start a non-profit organization offering housing and assistance to adults on the spectrum of autism. You can download the track for $1.29 at CDBaby.com.
