Greetings,

Here on the south coast of Wales we have definitely turned a corner into Autumn, and the timing feels right to present these new works, which lean into the seasonal energies that preside during the latter part of the year. All of these images have been made during the past twelve months, with the finishing touches added only very recently. They mark something of a return to my original combination of materials, and the importance for me of the landscape image that embodies a more immediate physicality, darkly enigmatic, and tending towards the 'North'.

And This Heavy Silence

Ink, pastel, graphite, on paper

Paper size: 76 x 56 cm

Image size: 73.5 x 50 cm

Each image is linked to further details in the webstore.

The materials used are acrylic ink, iron gall ink, graphite, soft pastel, and carborundum. The latter brought an interesting variation of texture to the two pieces in which it features, and I plan on experimenting further with this. All are on Fabriano paper.

These works are available to purchase directly from me. They can be collected from the studio, or shipped. If you would like to see them in person please get in touch and we can organise a studio visit. Payment by installment is available through paypal as you go through the online process.

If at any point you are interested in a picture which does not appear in the webstore, it is always worth getting in touch because it may not have been sold, but could be heading to an exhibition.

These Haunted Isles

Ink, pastel, graphite, on paper

Paper size: 61 x 41 cm

Image size: 53 x 33 cm

2024

This hastily taken photo shows The Unquiet Land at the framer's in Cardiff, before being whisked off to the Royal West Of England Academy in Bristol, where it will be in the Annual Exhibition. Further details in a forthcoming newsletter, and the drawing will be available from the RWA. If you are interested in having a piece framed in the above style prior to purchase we can discuss the options. A double mount has been used, which creates a small gap between the paper and the mount, so in the (unlikely) event that any flecks of pastel come loose, there is a high chance they will fall out of sight rather than between the glass and the mount. It also serves to give an added sense of depth to the image. For the first time I have opted for non-reflective glass, and am very pleased with the results.
