an international incident

Authors do all kinds of things to promote their books - buy ads, participate in book giveaways, go on podcasts, and enter promotions with free or discounted books to name a few. Especially if you're a new author, you constantly search for readers.

Recently, I joined a BookBub featured deal. These are much-coveted promos, and I was happy to have this opportunity to offer Tequila Midnight for free just as its sequel El Diablo came out. Although I'd heard these deals were great, I was stunned at the results. Since the deal, over 25,000 people have downloaded Tequila Midnight and my other novels. What was especially fun for someone who loves to travel was seeing where those new readers were from (and my books are only available in English, for now).

For some of you, this is your first newsletter. Wherever you are from, welcome, I'm happy to have you here, and hope you enjoy my novels.

an author introduction

The Women’s Fiction Writers Association is a fantastic organization and I’ve met many friends at their retreats and online events. One of their prominent volunteers is Maggie Smith who hosts their podcast Hear Us Roar.

Influenced by her former careers as a psychologist and a business owner, author Maggie pens compelling stories of ordinary women who face extraordinary challenges with grit, brainpower, and strong doses of empathy and humor.

Maggie also keeps readers and writers entertained on social media by analyzing trends in book covers. It’s amazing how you’ll see a cover on a popular book and the next thing you know, every other book seems to have a similar cover. Maggie points out these trends on Instagram.

One of her latest posts on cover comparisons, Guess what? Women are tired, had me laughing out loud.

Like me, Maggie writes both book club fiction and suspense. Her latest novel, Blindspot, is about a cutthroat district attorney who has to solve the puzzle of the stalker who wants to destroy her before she loses her career, her family, and her freedom. Maggie has offered to give one US reader a copy of Blindspot. The fourth person to email me will win a signed copy of the novel!

book boosts

I've joined with other authors these book giveaways.
