The Jackson County Republican Party Newsletter will be distributed every Monday morning going forward. Pardon the lapse in newsletters due to my learning the new software tool (WIX) used for creation and distribution. If anyone knows WIX and would like to volunteer please contact me.

Jackson County Republican Party is hosting a Free Cookout (hamburgers, hotdogs, and sides) at our Headquarters (1601 East Main Street, Sylva) on August 19th at 11:30 am. We need your help with additional food items. Please call Lynda Lewis at (903) 819-2551.

The Jackson County Board of Election (JCBoE) Board members will be deciding on the Early Voting (EV) site for the 2024 elections at their meeting on Wednesday at 1 PM (see details in Event Section below).  It is supposed to be a unanimous decision of the FIVE JCBoE board members on the location and number of Early Voting sites. There is a cost for every additional EV site due to there are paid election workers and the cost to transport and setup/breakdown each EV site. This is your tax dollars funding these EV sites.  

Currently, Jackson County is funding FIVE Early Voting sites with two EV sites in the single precinct which are about 3 miles apart. Why does Jackson County have two EV site within 3 miles while most Western North Carolina Counties have two or fewer Early Voting Sites for the entire county. Below is the breakdown of Early Voting Sites by County.

Just a couple of observations are:

1. McDowell county has almost the same number of voters YET has Three fewer EV.

2. Henderson county has 59, 000 more voters and has fewer Early voting sites.
