Welcome to summer! Feel the fires of activity ignite within and cultivate it with an active lifestyle! In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Summer is the time to tend the fires of your energy and become more active. But like anything else, too much or too little of a good thing needs to be brought back into balance. As you make plans to get out and do the active things you love to do - kayaking, hiking, tennis, swimming, running, biking...make sure you build in some time for tempering that heat with some chill time. As a kid, I loved to curl up with a book. Summer reading was the best because it what I wanted to read to escape into daydream places. I remember at the town swimming pool - it was a man made sandy bottom pond - we had a mandatory rest time while the adults had an hour of splash free swimming. We would group in the shade on our beach towels, read, eat and talk.
This week, my classes will focus on tending to the fires of our energy. When our energy is healthy, it performs like a thermostat and regulates to what we need. When our fires are balanced, we feel like we are in full bloom, self -sufficient and open to sharing unconditional love. We go with the flow! When the fires are low, we feel the lack of joy and compassion and we don't feel the bloom of life. When the fires are too hot, we are perpetually on with no down regulation. When a fire is burning hot, you don't need to throw gasoline on it.
Here is my Live Stream and In Person Schedule this week. I hope you can join me and tend to your fires!
Peace, Love and Summer's Fire!
