To all of our Shield City family,

Folks, it has been a month here in Kano! Your funds this month have paid for an emergency appendix surgery for one of our athlete's fathers, malnutrition mix for many of our kids AND cloth diapers that the moms are so excited to use. Thank you to everyone who kickstarted our new special needs chairs; they are under construction for our children who can't walk. We are still trying to provide more nutrition mix for our malnourished children with cerebral palsy to gain weight: see story below. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity!

10 Days of Rage: My city is now under a 24-hour curfew because of a nationwide protest- 10 Days of Rage. Last week across Nigeria, protestors took to the street to demonstrate against the rising cost of living, the poverty and insecurity across the country.  My children and I are sheltering in place now, and we've set some shelf stable food aside. Just keep us and all of Nigeria in your thoughts. Thank you all!

Best,

Director Laura Sharpe

Center starts construction of special needs chairs

Shield City Football Wins Gold

Our team of 26 athletes played undefeated in their league for two straight weeks. The football team participated for the first time in the Nationwide League Two, Youth Division.  After playing undefeated for two weeks, they were officially at the top of the table and received official promotion to Nationwide League One.  This is a huge accomplishment for such a young group of players.  This will really help to be able to open up new opportunities for the boys in the football industry.
