Sturgis Little League Returns

Registration for Spring Ball Closes March 3

Sturgis is proud to announce the anticipated return of little league baseball to our small town after many years without it. Thanks to the hard work, dedication, and generosity of our community members, especially Trevor Fulgham, we are hoping to bring this beloved pastime back to our kids. But in order for this to happen we need you to sign your kids up!

Organizing a little league is no small task. Over the past several months community members have come together to raise money to improve the ball fields and organize the league. It has been a true team effort, and we could not have done it without the support of each and every one of you.

The league is open to kids of all skill levels ages 3-12, and we are committed to making it a positive experience for everyone involved.

The return of little league baseball to our town is a testament to what we can accomplish when we come together as a community. We are grateful to all of our sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who have made this possible. Most of all we are grateful to the parents who have signed their kids up for the Sturgis league. However, we still need more kids to sign up for the league to become a reality. Right now we don't have enough to make a full roster in each age group. If we don't have enough kids sign up we may not have a little league this year.

Let's get the Sturgis Little League team back together. Sign your kids up! It is sure to be a great season, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for little league baseball in our town. We encourage everyone to come out and cheer on our little leaguers.

Thank you again to everyone who has played a role in bringing little league back to our community. This would not be possible without you.

Welcome to Sturgis Signs Revitalized

Sparking a Community Cleanup and Beautification Day

February 2023 - As locals and passerbys drive through Sturgis on Highway 12 whether coming from the east or west they are greeted by the wooden Welcome to Sturgis signs. As with all things, time and weather had taken their tole on our signs. However, thanks to Arch Pitts our signs now have a breath of new life in them. The much needed paint job looks tremendous!

Arch's volunteering to revitalize the town signs sparked an idea to create a community clean up and beautification day.

Sunday afternoon, March 5, we are asking community members to come out at 1:00pm and help with the town's spring cleaning efforts. There will be a job for everyone. A few of the cleanup items already noted are removing the spent flowers in the town planters, trimming limbs and bushes around the welcome signs, picking up sticks and debris at the park, cleaning the concession stand to get it ready for the return of Sturgis Little League this spring, and cleaning the signs at the town cemeteries.

Courtesy of Crandall Woodson there will also be pulled pork sandwiches available for anyone in the community to come out and enjoy. Sandwiches will be free of charge, but donations will be accepted. Money donated will go back towards the beautification of our town. So even if you aren't physically able to participate in the clean up day you are still welcome to come out and meet us on N. Park St. between Annabelle's at McKinnon Store and the blue building, enjoy a pork sandwich, and visit with your neighbors. Before you head home make sure you stop by and support our newest business in town Annabelle's Antiques at McKinnon Store. Open Fridays & Saturdays, 10:00 - 5:00 and Sundays 1:00 - 5:00.

Let's continue to grow Sturgis by supporting Sturgis.

CB&S Bank Adds an ATM!

Community Reading Event with West Elementary School

March 27, we will begin the community reading event of the book The Complete Adventures of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. All community members are invited to read along with the children. The school will announce the reading assignments as well as discussion questions that will be posted around town for us all to engage in the project together. Once we complete the book there will be a movie showing in the park Friday, April 21 at 5:00pm. All community members are invited to bring your blankets and lawn chairs to watch the movie!

Students at West Elementary School will be provided a copy of the book. All other community members are encouraged to get your copy from our library, your favorite book store or online.

Fun Fact:  There’s only one letter that doesn’t appear in any American state name. There's a Z in Arizona and an X in Texas, but no Q in any of them.
