Welcome to Sturgis Signs Revitalized
Sparking a Community Cleanup and Beautification Day
February 2023 - As locals and passerbys drive through Sturgis on Highway 12 whether coming from the east or west they are greeted by the wooden Welcome to Sturgis signs. As with all things, time and weather had taken their tole on our signs. However, thanks to Arch Pitts our signs now have a breath of new life in them. The much needed paint job looks tremendous!
Arch's volunteering to revitalize the town signs sparked an idea to create a community clean up and beautification day.
Sunday afternoon, March 5, we are asking community members to come out at 1:00pm and help with the town's spring cleaning efforts. There will be a job for everyone. A few of the cleanup items already noted are removing the spent flowers in the town planters, trimming limbs and bushes around the welcome signs, picking up sticks and debris at the park, cleaning the concession stand to get it ready for the return of Sturgis Little League this spring, and cleaning the signs at the town cemeteries.
Courtesy of Crandall Woodson there will also be pulled pork sandwiches available for anyone in the community to come out and enjoy. Sandwiches will be free of charge, but donations will be accepted. Money donated will go back towards the beautification of our town. So even if you aren't physically able to participate in the clean up day you are still welcome to come out and meet us on N. Park St. between Annabelle's at McKinnon Store and the blue building, enjoy a pork sandwich, and visit with your neighbors. Before you head home make sure you stop by and support our newest business in town Annabelle's Antiques at McKinnon Store. Open Fridays & Saturdays, 10:00 - 5:00 and Sundays 1:00 - 5:00.
Let's continue to grow Sturgis by supporting Sturgis.
