March 2023

Wishing you the luck o' the Irish today, and every day!

I must admit, I have enjoyed my share of luck lately.

I have reconnected with two friends for weekly painting and have already picked up some new tips and techniques. It always amazes me how much we get done when we are together - lucky for us our hands can still paint while we are chatting and laughing.

It was fortunate for artists in general that many exhibits, shows, and auctions were able to continue throughout the pandemic years via online platforms, but even more fortunate when most have returned as both in-person and online events. Some of the exhibits I mentioned last month are still on, and new ones have just begun.

EXHIBITS AND SHOWS

Wall of Art Exhibit extended

If you haven't had a chance to drop by and see this exhibit in person, you now have until the end of April. Because it is such a large space, I have been able to hang some of my larger pieces, including A Night in Bordeaux (the largest one shown, which is 3'x4'). The Wall of Art is located in the rotunda just outside the Public Library (Main Branch), in the back of Welland Civic Square (click for Hours and Location). The exhibit runs until Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Art in the Workplace Exhibit #36

McMaster Innovation Park is conveniently located off Hwy 403 in Hamilton's west end - a 2-minute drive from the Aberdeen exit. A renovated factory, it has housed the Art in the Workplace Exhibits in its bright and enormous atrium for over ten years.

The current exhibit runs until June 28, 2023, and can be viewed from 8 am to 6 pm on weekdays. Admission is always free.

The Opening Gala is on Thursday, March 30th, from 7 to 9 pm.

The Niagara Pumphouse Members' Exhibit

The Members' Exhibit at the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre (click for Hours and Location), on until April 2023, is called "Transitions", a tribute to the shift in weather from winter to spring. Located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Pumphouse has been a long-time supporter of aspiring, emerging, and experienced artists throughout Southern Ontario. With two large galleries, it is well worth a visit whenever you find yourself in NOTL.

Upcoming Exhibit

I will have a solo art exhibit in the charming Rittenhouse Branch of the Lincoln Pelham Public Library in Vineland, ON (click for Hours and Location). The exhibit will run from April 4 to June 2, 2023.

The 52nd DVSA Annual Art Auction

The Dundas Valley School of Art will run its wildly popular fundraiser from April 10 to April 16 this year, and will feature over 1,200 pieces of art – paintings, pastels, drawings, prints, photography, sculpture, pottery, glass, fibre art, jewellery and more.

The silent bidding will be online (beginning Monday, April 10), but there will also be in-school previews available Wednesday, April 12 to Saturday, April 15 – an essential element for artwork purchasing. Look for my entries, including Above All Else, shown above: #1201, 1202, and 1203.

Special this year: the Live Auction Night is back, on Friday, April 14. Auctioneer Nello returns for bidding on select pieces by art world greats and leading Canadian and regional artists. Doors open at 7pm and the live auction begins at 8pm. Tickets for this exclusive event are on sale through March at DVSA.

You can stay in the loop with all the auction action, including updates, information and sneak peeks of the artwork by following on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram. Event hashtag – #dvsaauction

Email and Website Updates

Email: I will be closing my hotmail address (tinacrockpot@hotmail.com), and will only use my gmail address (tinaclancyart@gmail.com) going forward. If you have used my hotmail address in the past, please make the switch in your records.

Website: As announced last month, Tina Clancy ART has a fresh new look, with a bit of reorganization. To get a sense for my work over the years, all of my paintings are listed in the Gallery pages. Or, if you prefer to view only those paintings that are still available for purchase, go to Shop. And, as before, you can learn more about my process and inspiration in About.

Have any questions or comments? Contact me - I'd love to hear from you.

Coming in April ...

FASM's From Heart to Hand Exhibit at the Holcim Gallery, bunnies, and more.

My plans for the rest of March are a bit more lofty than they were in February: paint when I feel like it (and with two friends), walk every day (and hope not to slip), enjoy the longer days, and search for those budding snowdrops that disappeared under a foot of snow (I'd need the luck of the Irish for that!).

I wish you health and happiness ... Tina
