Healthy Food for All

Oct-Dec 2022

Message from the Board

Happy New Year!

Our major goal for 2022 was to conduct our nutrition awareness program offline and to validate the results. And we did that! We conducted our program across schools in Delhi and Gurugram. And we had great results - with children displaying increased nutritional awareness, trying affordable healthy recipes, and reducing junk food consumption. In fact, our work was even featured in distinguished platforms like YourStory and The Better India.

With new year 2023, we look forward to new beginnings. We are planning to include new elements to our program to add more value, including delivering programs for parents, conducting more practical recipe sessions, and developing more easy-to-use video content. And we are sure, with your support, we will get there again this year.

Check out the updates from the past quarter, read our latest Foodshaala story, and try our new recipes.

Happy eating!

What We Have Been Up To

Launching our Program in Delhi Schools

We are excited to have launched Food Funda: School Nutrition Awareness Program in schools in Delhi! The kids are now learning about balanced meals, reading food labels, and unjunking their plates. We are conducting the program for around 250 children at Sai Nath Public School and Hari Vidya Bhawan in Sangam Vihar area in Delhi.

Awareness Session for Parents

Based on lessons learnt from our past programs and feedback received from our partners, we are conducting awareness sessions for parents. During these sessions, parents of school children learnt about balanced meals for kids, healthy recipes, and simple cooking tips to maintain the nutritional value of food. These sessions complement our program for children, to bring about an even more effective change in household eating practices.

Welcoming the New Year with Food Drive

We welcomed the new year with a food donation drive for children of migrant workers residing in an urban slum area in Gurugram. We met with around 70 children at Vishalakshi Foundation's Dream School and served nutritious meals to them. We had a great time interacting with the children, listening to their stories, hearing them recite poems, and understanding their food habits.

Meet Shagun Aswal

Lotus Petal Foundation Team

"It has been extremely helpful to have an organization sharing about health and nutrition with the students from an early age."

"Foodshaala Foundation has been conducting nutrition awareness sessions for the students at our school. They recently also conducted a session for the parents. It has been great working with the Foodshaala team! Health is one of most important aspects of life, and a key priority for us at Lotus Petal Foundation. It has been extremely helpful to have an organization working on this area, and sharing about health and nutrition with the students from an early age. We are glad to have Foodshaala as part of our volunteering program. They are a very diligent team, and we look forward to a great association with them!"

Healthy Recipes

It's winter time - the season of Spinach! Spinach or Palak is a superfood because of its high nutritive value. It is a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid, iron, calcium and potassium. Due to these nutrients, it helps boost immunity. Spinach is also low in carbs but high in insoluble fiber, which helps in digestion. Try out some of our Spinach recipes given below, and check out more such recipes on our blog.
