Cheating this week but hopefully the June calendar below will be of some use! (taken from the Reader's Digest: New Illustrated Guide to Gardening.
GARDENER'S CALENDAR: JUNE
LAWNS: mow at least once a week
SHRUBS: take leaf-bud cuttings of clematis, and softwood cuttings of fuchsia, cotoneaster, hypericum and deutzia early in the month. Serpentine layer young shoots of clematis at the end of the month.
HEDGES: trim privet and lonicera nitida.
ROSES: disbud hybrid tea roses grown for large blooms. Remove suckers. Spray against greenfly and diseases.
RHODODENDRONS: remove faded flowers.
PERENNIALS: cut down early-flowering perennials to 3in. from the ground.
CHRYSANTHEMUMS: complete stopping of outdoor-flowering plants.
DAHLIAS: pinch out tips of leading shoots. Water, mulch and spray against pests.
ANNUALS: support tall-growing annuals. Prick off seedlings of biennials.
BULBS: divide daffodils and narcissi when the leaves start to yellow. In mild areas, plant De Caen anemones for autumn.
LILIES: in humid weather, spray with Bordeaux mixture to prevent lily disease.
IRISES: tall bearded irises may need supporting. After flowing, cut back stems.
HOUSE PLANTS: water and feed regularly. Syringe several times a week. During hot spells, stand hardy plants, such as an ivy, fatsia, cissus and Saxifraga stolonoifera, outside in the shade, spray from overhead once a day.
FRUIT: cover with netting against birds. Begin thinning apples, pears, gooseberries and plums. Pinch out side-shoots on figs. Summer prune red currants and gooseberries. Peg down strawberry runners.
