A quality education is the path to independence and success.
We at REACH Shirati care deeply about creating opportunities and enhancing the independence of the community we serve. We want our projects to survive and thrive without our support!
Over the last two years, we have increased the amount of school fees that we collect from our students' families who can afford it. As a result, today, one-fourth of our operating expenses are paid for by the community! But like independent schools here in the United States, school fees do not cover all of our expenses.
In addition, the Tanzanian government has put a cap on school fees and to maintain our status as a community service, we are caught in a bind – if we raise our fees so that Tina’s Pre and Primary School is more self-sufficient, the government will reclassify our school as a business which may be challenging!
