We are excited to announce the completion of our gym renovation project! Thanks to the incredible support of the Caesars Foundation of Floyd County and our generous donors, our gym has undergone a fantastic transformation, providing our kids with an amazing new space for physical activity. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Caesars Foundation for their generous contribution of $17,300, which has been instrumental in making this project a reality. Their belief in our mission to promote the healthy development of vulnerable children and youth has truly made a difference. We also want to express heartfelt thanks to all our generous donors whose contributions, totaling $3,860, have played a vital role in enhancing our gym.

Thank you all for your unwavering support and commitment to our cause!

We are thrilled to introduce "Joy Ride", a collaboration between The Bicycle Station and Open Door. The goal of Joy Ride is to raise funds for Specialized Rockhopper bicycles to be donated to our shelter for our youth to use during the coming warm months. We love any opportunity to get our kids active and more involved within our community in a positive and healthy way. This is the perfect opportunity for staff to have one-on-one time with our kids on bikes at places like the Ohio River Greenway or Sam Peden Community Park. Consider donating today!

$140,000 Grant Update for February

In the spirit of progress and safety, we're thrilled to share that last December, we began the exciting process of custom ordering our two brand-new 2024 Ford 15 Passenger Vans. Anticipated to arrive by this summer, these vans will be outfitted to meet our specific needs. What makes this even more special is that each van will include state-of-the-art safety features, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring the utmost safety and well-being for our kids during their journeys.

This project wouldn't be possible without the Impact 100 Southern Indiana grant from the Women's Foundation of Southern Indiana.

Backed by decades of brain-based research and neuroscience, UKERU is a simple, yet highly effective approach to crisis management that offers an alternative to coercive behavior techniques in our facility. Our dedicated youth workers and staff are extensively trained in the UKERU approach, ensuring they have the expertise and knowledge to effectively implement this groundbreaking system in their work with young individuals in crisis. UKERU is a system based on receiving information communicated through someone’s actions. It is the only restraint-free program that combines hands-on training, theoretical concepts, practical tools, and specialized equipment to safely manage—and diffuse—crises.
