There’s no denying that we felt it, whether it is the 80 instruments in a large scale orchestra symphony, or when our body moves to the music on the dance floor with Ed Sheeran’s guitar.

Vipasana Meditation in Buddhist practice uses sensory observing techniques to be present in the moment and connect to the serenity of the inner mind. Either by sitting crossed legged observing the flickering of a candle, or the sound of the breath, or the truth of life and death in the higher level or meditation. Vipasana also uses the sensation of the skin in the movement of the Walking Mediation.

Yin Yoga and Sound Therapy uses the same techniques.

Ace’s Yin Yoga flows like fluid from one asana to another with a Rest and Restore idea. Each movement allows enough time to connect the sensory aspect of the movement. Sam’s Singing Bowls are not just a melody, but work with the breath and heart beat. The whole concept works together in harmony, like trees in the forest, fish in the river. At the end, when the final vibration of singing bowls and the last yoga pose has ended, then you, like a child letting go of the ball in their hand as they relax, are reunited in body and mind.

Is Chair Yoga just for seniors?

Not at all, Chair Yoga is a perfect exercise for those looking to improve posture, flexibility, and balance while avoiding injury. With that interpretation, Chair Yoga is suitable for everyone.

With the yoga breathing technique, Ace uses the chair to reduce the distance of the flow up and down between standing and the floor. Hence, avoiding the impact from weight on the hips and knees, and improving the range of movement by concentrating on one area of muscles each time.

Ace uses yoga blocks and cushions to facilitate the posture of his members. His Chair Yoga will include not just a chair, but sometimes a table, wall, and environment around the hall.

This is a fun and not too serious class. Members always finish the class with a small grin at the corner of their lips, and laugh at leaving.

Every Thursday 17.00-18.00 at Mytchett Community Centre. Starts Thursday 1st June 2023.

The Parsonage Farm School 10 time/3 months package members can redeem their package with this class. Otherwise, the drop in price is £12.

As we continue to travel along life’s journey, changes in the ways our bodies work can lead to common health problems, such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. We will explore how the foods we eat and the way we move our bodies either make those problems worse or can be used to help prevent them from developing.

In each session, we will look at different parts of the body and explore what can go wrong with them. We will then focus on how we can prevent these problems with food and gentle exercise.

We will start off with three sessions related to digestion, the way in which our bodies breakdown food to give us energy and absorb essential nutrients. We will explore how our bodies respond to the sugar and starch in our food, how to prevent diabetes, how we can look after the good bacteria in our gut, and how we can prevent problems in our digestive system like colon cancer.

You will learn skills that you can use in your everyday life to make healthier food choices and improve your posture and flexibility.
