Basic Necessities is the only nationally-recognized diaper & period products bank in North Louisiana.
Since opening in June 2020, we have delivered:
- 31,404 diapers
- 20,060 menstrual products
- 2,531 incontinence supplies
We have served 274 unduplicated clients, and 327 children to date.
This does not include the hundreds of public school & university students who receive free supplies through their schools via Basic Necessities, our neighbors who receive free supplies from Basic Necessities through our community partners, and our mutual aid disaster aid response efforts after Hurricane Laura & the February snowstorms.
We are a Shreveport-based nonprofit collects and distributes diapers, period products & incontinence supplies to people in the ArkLaTex region who are experience financial challenges due to unemployment, illness, and/or emergency need.
Public assistance programs like WIC, SNAP, and Medicaid do not cover these specific items unless they are prescribed by a doctor as part of a medical treatment plan.
