As a voice actor, you can sometimes get stuck in a rut of “doing voices,” and wonder why you're not booking. You sometimes forget that your job is to make characters literally come to life for your audience. To create living, breathing characters that move people and to make them feel things, just like an on-camera actor.

Even though cartoon and video game characters might seem 2-dimensional, your job is to make them multi-dimensional, infusing that monkey, high elf, talking dump-truck or ogre with a soul and a life all their own. Learn how to reckognize the difference between "doing a voice" and creating a character that comes to life and transports the listener to another world . . . this is the key to booking! 

This is for any actor at any level wanting to learn, up level, or perfect their British accent. Many actors struggle to recreate the sounds of a certain accent or dialect, applying the phonetics they learned or a certain “music," only to feel that it doesn’t sound as authentic as they’d like, or that they don’t have the freedom or confidence in auditions or performances.

Accents and dialects exist because as little ones, we learn to speak with specific muscle groups the people we grew up around used. So no matter how close you get to making the British sounds with your America muscle groups, you can never really sound authentic until you learn to place the speech in the specific British instrument.  Once you do that, speaking British and sustaining it becomes so much easier than you ever thought it would be. In this workshop Karen will help you learn how to find and use your British instrument, so that you will no longer be "trying to sound" British, but instead, will be using your vocal instrument the same way the Brits do!  This workshop is revelatory for many people who seek to gain more proficiency and freedom with performance in British.

From animation to video games and ADR for live action, many productions often hire women to voice children’s voices.

Whether it’s girls or boys voices, from preschool to grade school to teenagers, there are many tools and techniques to help actors create and excel at these types of roles. 

In this workshop Karen will help you hone all these unique skills and share a variety of tools, techniques and tips to help you create believable, endearing, convincing and compelling girls and boys voices!

With the right techniques, learning accents and dialects is a lot easier than you think. Many actors struggle to recreate the sounds of a certain accent or dialect, applying the phonetics they learned at drama school or a certain “music” they’ve been told to imitate, only to feel that it doesn’t quite sound right, or that they don’t have the freedom or confidence in auditions or performances.

This workshop aims to demystify accents and make them accessible to all. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, this workshop will give you a thorough and fascinating foundation of knowledge, tools and techniques

to learn any accent or dialect with accuracy, authenticity and much more freedom for both voice-over and on-camera work.
