Dear WHECES Families,
 

Thank you to all the 40+ parents and teachers who joined us for our first PATT meeting of the year. We wanted to take a quick minute and share some of the highlights and things to come….

RESTAURANT NIGHT 

Our first Restaurant Night of the year at The Stand in Woodland Hills was a success! It was awesome having the children bump into so many friends from school while enjoying a night out and yummy food! We were able to raise $524.67 for PATT, which will help drive our mission to provide supplemental educational programs to enrich the curriculum of basic education offered to the students of WHECES. Please join us at the next one at Lucille’s BBQ in Woodland Hills on October 19th.
 

ART TO REMEMBER

Your kiddos have been hard at work creating unique art pieces that will be scanned and made available to print on t-shirts, mugs, and anything else you can imagine. Just in time for the holidays! Look for more information in the coming weeks on how you can get your hands on these one-of-a-kind pieces of art.
 

FALL FUND PHOTOS

Don’t forget to sign up for your 15-minute professional portrait session in Malibu, taking place on October 21st and 22nd. Your $50 donation to PATT will get you a family photoshoot and two edited digital images of your choosing. You won’t find a better deal anywhere, and you’ll be supporting your favorite charitable organization—PATT!

HERO Update

The Helping Education Remain Outstanding Campaign just hit the $50,000 milestone! Thank you so much to the 150 families that have participated so far. Our goal is 100% participation in the first 100 days, so if you haven’t signed up please do so here, or if you have more specific questions you can always email the HERO team at wheceshero@gmail.com. 
 

VOLUNTEERING

If you’ve filled out our volunteer form, please watch your email for announcements of the help we need. If you haven’t, it’s not too late. We would love to have your diverse talents and perspectives, and we appreciate whatever time or support you can give. Fill out the volunteer form here or email us at pattofwheces@gmail.com.

Principal's Corner

Dear WHECES Families,
 

The garden is open! Each class will be visiting the garden once a week for 5 weeks throughout the school year and will be taught lessons by an Enrich LA ranger. 

Counseling has begun and the slots are full. We are now keeping a waiting list. Please let your teacher know if you would like your child on this list.

HERO

You can donate by:

1. Filling out the form that was sent home the first week of school and return it to your child’s class OR turn your form in to the office in the basket marked “HERO”; or

2. Sign up online by going to https://www.mypatt.org/hero-campaign; or

3. You may print the attached form and follow instructions from #1. 

If paying by Venmo, please reference your child’s name and “HERO” in the comments section….ALSO, please complete a form and turn it into the office so I know how to reach you AND have your child’s shirt size (and birthdate and name on banner preference). 

All donations ($25 minimum…but please consider donating more since this is a fundraiser after all AND so you get all the other goodies offered) get your child a t-shirt and magnet, which will be delivered to your child’s classroom. We would love to see every student wear their HERO shirt every Friday and at the school assemblies each month!!!! If any of your children come home with a “vintage” HERO shirt, it’s because I pass them out to random students during assemblies...perhaps one of these days we’ll have a “Vintage HERO Day” so students can wear shirts from years passed...stay tuned!!!!

Fall Festival

Community Discount Cards

Community discount cards are here!!! For only $15, you will save $$$ at twenty five (25) different places between now and August 2024. From Blinkie’s Donuts to Jersey Mike’s to Fresh Brothers to California Pita. We offer two different cards with different local vendors.  Purchase one for yourself and one as a gift . . . who doesn’t like to save money and support our community?

5th Grade

The winner for the Class of 2024 has been chosen...view the flier below to find out who the winner is and see what the 5th Grade Class of 2024 logo looks like:  

Bravo to all those who submitted artwork...it was not an easy decision—that’s for sure—AND because there were so many incredible submissions, each and every single one of them will be included in the school yearbook! Way to go, 5th Grade artists!!! 

Forms for the 5th Grade Fund were due on Friday, September 15th and we’ve only received a handful thus far. We need forms completed from ALL 5th GRADE FAMILIES because (a) we need your child’s shirt size as soon as possible AND (b) we need to know how many of our 5th Grade Families will be contributing to the 5th Grade Fund so we can plan accordingly. 
 

The forms were sent home a several weeks ago, but if you lost them, no need to fret...please go to https://www.mypatt.org/5th-grade. Forms can be dropped off in the 5th Grade basket located in the office OR they can be emailed to wheces2024@gmail.com. If you’re not ready to make a financial commitment, we understand. However, we really need your child’s shirt size so please, please, please let us know ASAP. 

5th Grade Restaurant Night will be held at The Local Peasant on Monday, October 16th. A flier will be emailed to you soon. This is for 5th Grade families only (sorry!!). Proceeds from the event will go to the 5th Grade Fund.

Lastly, if you are a 5th Grade family and did not register your email with us at the 5th Grade booth during the Welcome Back event or haven’t turned in a form OR reached out to us OR received any of our emails, please email your child’s name, your name, and the best email address we can reach you at to wheces2024@gmail.com. We want to make certain all 5th Grade families are kept up to date with all things 5th Grade.
