Happy New (Fiscal) Year! Back in 2018, we started our work when a fellow social worker connected us to the schools he was working for. We launched our program in the next school, because the previous school recommended and connected us to them. We are scaling up, because people who have seen our work already are connecting us to more schools and partners. And the list goes on. As we look back, we realize that we could not have moved one inch without connecting the first dot to the next, and to the next, and so on. And we know that we cannot do more without connecting to the right people. So, through this newsletter, we appeal to you to connect us to at least 1 person who might help us further our work - whether it is a potential donor, partner, beneficiary, mentor, or just well-wisher. Do you think you can do that? We are excited to start the new fiscal year and academic year with lot more activities and ideas. As your kids get back to school, do check out our Back2School recipes below. Also check out other updates from the past quarter, and read our latest Foodshaala story from our nutritionist and volunteer Chie. Happy eating! Raadhika Gupta |

Making a Salad with Food Funda Kids We enjoyed cooking, and eating, as our Food Funda graduates from Sai Nath Public School, Sangam Vihar, Delhi made innovative and delicious salads! The students showed great enthusiasm and skills as they prepared tasty salads using local and nutritious ingredients such as vegetables, sprouted pulses and paneer. Guess we know where the next Masterchefs are coming from! We are also proud to say that the kids could demonstrate an understanding of how their salads were nutritious. Check out their beautiful salads here. |

Launching our Program in Another School As we closed this academic year, we launched and completed the delivery of Food Funda: School Nutrition Awareness Program in another school in Delhi. This time, 70 kids from KPS Convent School, Mahipalpur Village, learnt about nutrients, balanced meals, reading food labels, and unjunking their plates. Check out some glimpses from the program here. |

Meet Chie Hirayama Nutritionist & Volunteer at Foodshaala "The most invaluable outcome in the program is that there are a lot of big smiles on children’s faces." |

I am really moved by their offline activities such as reading food labels, making healthy salads, and making healthy food combination for a colorful breakfast/lunch plate. It is extremely effective for gaining knowledge on food in school so I hope it would spread more all over India. And I think the most invaluable outcome in the program is that there are a lot of big smiles on children’s faces during their lessons. I am so glad to work on recipe videos for children, and nutrition content for blogs, social media and workshops. I look forward to continuing making simple, healthy and tasty recipes with the team, and enjoying choosing right and happy eating habits with many people." |

As you know, the power of connections is critical, especially in the social sector. Today, we request you to pause and think for a moment - can you connect us to anyone whose support will help us multiply our impact? Do you know any individual or organization that would like to fund food, nutrition or health programs? Do you know a company that could sponsor gifts, such as water bottles, for children? Do you know a school, catering to any socio-economic segment, that might be interested in spreading nutritional awareness among its students? |
|
|
Do you know any other community of children or women which can benefit from nutritional awareness? Do you know a mentor in the social sector? Maybe it is someone you know. Or may be it is you! Whoever it is, we need your connections to grow, do more and bring greater impact. Reflect, and connect us to at least 1 person who can help us. Can you do that? | | |
