Members Only Stuff

It's a Go!!!

At Saturday's Board meeting, Michael Blue announced that the repairs to the water plant and wells are on schedule and the campground will be open to the membership beginning at 8:00AM on Friday, March 31st, and not before. Members will have 24/7 access and are permitted to stay overnight. Water service to all sites will be available.

Board Approves Assessment

By a narrow margin, the Board approved the assessment for $1,200. The assessment money will only be spent on projects/items that are included in the assessment. The Finance Committee has been given the responsibility to monitor the expenditures of the assessment to ensure only projects/items listed in the assessment will be paid for with assessment money. None of the assessment money is available to the Board to be used at their discretion.

Invoices for the assessment will be mailed April 1. Payment of the assessment is divided into four installments of $300 each, with an installment payment being due on the last day of the months June, September, December and March. The member has the option of making payment in full prior to April 30 or monthly payments of $100 per month beginning in April. If the installment payment is not received by the installment due date, a penalty will be applied, similar to the penalty that is applied for late dues payment.

Since payments may not be received until next March,2024 because of the installment plan, and the majority of the project expenses will occur before September, 2023, it may be necessary to activate a loan to accommodate the cash flow. If every member takes advantage of the installment plan, which is the way the assessment was designed, then it will be necessary to acquire a short-term loan in the amount of $250,000. However, if a percentage of members are able to pay the assessment in full by April 30, then the loan amount could be reduced, or the need for a loan be eliminated completely. To completely eliminate the loan requirement, 25% or 284 members would have to pay the assessment in full by April 30. The decision on the loan requirements will not be made until after April 30, so the details of the loan will not be available until after that point.

There is a summary of the Assessment posted on the website. To review the summary, click below. Any questions about the summary can be forwarded through the Contact Us page on the website.

Message From the Maintenance Committee

The Maintenance Committe is on the move. There is a meeting scheduled on April 15 at 10:00am in the Rec Hall. The following items will be discussed.

  1. The latest development with electrical issues. The past few months I've been working and getting bids from subcontractors, talking to volunteers and maintenance so we handle this in a group effort from the committee to make recommendations and review what I have been working on.

  2. Update on what our maintenance crew have been working on in the off season and things we would like them to look at during the new season.

  3. Pool maintenance and upgrades our crew have been working on in the pool house.

  4. Updates on our water plant and pump stations Michael blue's been working on.

  5. Ideas to get more membership involvement with general maintenance and volunteering.

If you are not already on the Maintenance Committee, you can sign up for for committees through the website, on the Park Management page under Members Only, select Committee Request Form in the middle of the page.

Hope to see you there.

Message From the Finance Committee

During the last Finance Committee meeting, there were a couple of issues presented that warrant further discussion.

There is a general concern about the way Capital Funds are being spent, the absence of any long-term planning, and the limited input of members on the financial decisions being made. To address this concern, the Committee is looking to develop policies and procedures that will outline steps to address the concerns expressed. This is going to take some time, but the goal is to have these policies and procedures in place by the Annual Meeting. The members of the Committee are ready to tackle this agenda, but the participation of more members with experience in business and finance would be an asset.

There was also an immediate concern that the money collected for the assessment would be spent only on the items designated in the assessment and not used for something else. By definition in the By-Laws, assessments can only be used for a specific purpose, but to ensure that this occurs, the Committee anticipates creating a group to monitor the expenditure of assessment funds. This group will review the expenses monthly and prepare a report for the Finance Committee, Board and the membership. These reports will be made available in the Members Only section of the website, or any member may request a copy from the office. Again, members interested should be able to demonstrate experience in finance, accounting, project management and/or budgets. If you enjoy Balance Sheets, Income Statements and spreadsheets, this subcommittee may be for you. This group has no authority. Their responsibility will be to monitor the expenditures and report to the Finance Committee and the Board.

Even if you are currently a member of the Finance Committee, if you wish to be involved in the assessment review process or in the development of policies and procedures, submit your request through the Contact Us page on the website. Please provide some information regarding your experience in the area of finance or management.

Looking forward to your participation.

June 17 - Family Fun Day

July 22 - Christmas in July

A tentative Calendar of Events is available on the website. Visit the home page (www.srcahome.com) and scroll down to the Season Schedule button found after the calendar. The schedule is not complete, but it's not too soon to start planning your summer activities.

If you do this and see the 2022 schedule rather than the 2023 schedule, you need to clear your browser history.

Camp Hours through March 31st.

A motion was passed at the Special Board Meeting on December 29, 2022, that "limits members' access to the park to winter office hours only, Tuesday through Saturday from 8AM to 4:30PM. The first offense will be a $200 fine and loss of access to the park during the water plant revitalization project. If a robo-call is made indicating flooding, an exception will be granted for members in B & D section to come in at any time to check on their possessions."

Note: Leaving your car at the gate and walking in still counts as a violation.

The motion by the Board is being strictly enforced until March 31st at 8:00am.

The Association makes every effort to keep you informed. The office sends emails and voicemails periodically to announce time-sentive information. Email blasts, like this one, are generated to give you updates on what's going on, and there is also a Facebook page maintained as just another alternative to keep you in the loop. As a Members Only subscriber on the website, you have access to Association information including Board meeting minutes, financials and other items related to Association management. So if your neighbor is getting notices that you are not, then chances are the information we have on file is not accurate. If you'd like us to check your information, please submit your current information through the Contact Us page on the website with a note to confirm contact information. Be sure to include your lot number.
