Happy March, LAA Members -

Remember to renew your membership by March 1. If you haven’t already done so, bring your check to changeover at Palmetto on March 1. Joni DiGiorgio will be there to collect them. You have to be a paid member to show at Palmetto, on Facebook, and partake in anything LAA.

CCA (Coastal Conservation Association) is looking for a few volunteers to help the island kids paint fish on March 18 at St. Peter’s Church from 9-3. If you're interested, please contact Tom Rood tomrood68@comcast.net

As you can see from the following info, we've lots and lots of events coming up. I hope to see all of our members enjoying these creative get-togethers.

LAA Spring Art Show & Silent Auction

Registration for our Spring Art Show & Silent Auction begins Monday, March 6th!

Please read both the LAA Spring Show Guidelines and Spring Show Registration Form (linked below) before submitting your registration. Submit a separate registration for the Silent Auction on the Silent Auction Registration Form (linked below).

Applications will be accepted by tube or snail mail between March 6 and April 6.

Application form for Spring Show must be accompanied by payment and a separate email with JPG of submittal(s) must be received within 5 days of form submittal. Please follow the directions for naming your file before emailing it!

Also, see the Guidelines linked below for information about the Silent Auction that will raise money to fund Arts Education in Savannah.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH

COCKTAIL RECEPTION

On Thursday, March 2nd from 5 PM to 6:30 PM our LAA/Sound View Artist of the Month Gallery at the Palmetto Club will once again be hosting its regular monthly cocktail reception!

This month we'll be featuring a wonderful selection of art by Phyllis Tildes on the wall and ceramists Richard Danner, Michael Mulqueen, Hannah Burtnik, Nora Sweet, Edie McKinney, Billie Collins and Phyllis Aaron in the case.

Reservations are now being taken for a spot in our ever-popular Spring Sidewalk Show and Sale located in the Village Park near the Library on Skidaway Island.

To be held on Saturday, April 29 from 10 am to 2 pm, we are pleased to announce that space will once again be $25 on a first-come first-served basis.

2023-24 Membership Dues

LAA Dues for 23-24 are due on March 1st. If you have not already done so, print the form and return it ASAP. Remember - dues must be paid in order to take part in LAA activities, including the Gallery hangings, the Virtual Gallery and the upcoming Spring Show.

Workshops

At this time, the Dwight Rose watercolor workshop scheduled for this month is SOLD OUT.

LAA/Sound View Virtual Gallery

And don't forget...participation in our Virtual Gallery will benefit those of you who do not have the opportunity to accumulate the 6 volunteer hours necessary to become an Artist of the Month. One volunteer hour will be awarded for every 2 pieces of art entered into the challenge. Maximum hours that can be used in this way towards the AOM requirement are 3 (6 posts).

Congratulations to Pam Reynolds on her MFA Thesis Exhibition “Aging Under Erasure” at the University Gallery Center for Art and Theatre in Statesboro, GA, from March 21 - March 27.

Congratulations to Brenda Turner whose acrylic painting on paper, “Stepladder”, has been accepted into the Ga. National Watercolor Show 2023, to be held at the Blue Ridge Mt. Arts Center, March 30 - May 19.
