May 2022 - LIBCo Takes Oklahoma! |
At the end of May, LIBCO made our way to the Midwest for a historic collaboration day with our friends at Equity Brewing Company in Norman, OK after months of planning and excitement. They are the first all Woman-owned craft brewery in the state of Oklahoma. Owners Suzette and Hannah Grillot are a mother-daughter team with a passion for great beer and positive social change. They believe in building a more diverse and inclusive community, one beer at a time. Here at LIBCo, we always say it doesn't matter who you are or what your background is; it's all about the liquid and if we stay true to that, may the liquid always prevail! Equity's and LIBCo's values definitely aligned so we had to make this a legendary collaboration. During our brew day, we created two legendary liquids; Liquid Equity NEIPA and First But Not The Last Blackberry Belgian Wit. We absolutely loved our visit! The locals were very friendly and it was nice to finally meet and speak with the Maryland natives that moved to Oklahoma. We loved the food, the breweries, the weather and the sunsets. Hannah and Suzette were such gracious hostesses and we cannot say thank you enough!! We can't wait to plan our next visit. |

June 2022 - Ohio and Philly! |
In mid-June, LIBCo was invited to be a part of the summer kick-off happy hour at the Victoria's Secret headquarters! We traveled to Reynoldsburg, OH alongside Crafted Culture of Columbus, OH and DOPE Cider House and Winery in Youngstown, OH to be a part of Victoria's Secret Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative. Being the only brewery that was not from the area, you know we had to show up and show out in a major way! LIBCo was also pouring for Mack Brewing Co's 2nd Annual Juneteenth Picnic in Philadelphia. We joined forces again with Crafted Culture to give the people what they want! It also turned out to be a slight Johnson C. Smith alumni reunion. Dave Mack is also a Smithite, so our relationship goes way back beyond beer! Whenever he calls, we always make sure we are there to support. |

August 2022 - Barrel And Flow Fest |
Our Super Bowl of Black Craft Beer is here! This event holds a very special place in our hearts since we debuted our Core Four during the bottle share in 2021. This year, we showed up in full force! All of our events were getting us geared up for the festival that we have been waiting for. At the end of the day, it was a joy and a privilege to finally meet some of our beer friends as well as those that have been supporting LIBCo since day 1. The 2022 festivities also marked a historical collaboration. Crafted Culture (Columbus, OH), Mack Brewing Co (Philadelphia, PA) and LIBCo teamed up to debut Amber With The Y.A.M.S. She is a 13.5% amber ale brewed with fresh yams, molasses, vanilla and graham crackers. This historic liquid just so happens to be the first ever all Black three way collaboration for Barrel & Flow with Mack Brewing Co (Philadelphia, PA) and Crafted Culture (Columbus, OH). The brother/sisterhood started at 2021's Barrel and Flow Fest. We realized Y.A.M.S needed to have more of a meaning, so we turned it into an acronym (Youthful, Ambitious, Motivated, Smart). Barrel & Flow is one of America’s favorite festivals, as voted by the readers of USA Today, and they strive to be the most welcoming festival as well. They are more than just beer and want to continue to utilize the brewing industry to connect opportunity, accessibility, and artistry in ways that empower the Black community. |

We are a Black Owned and Operated Husband and Wife brewery with dreams of having the first Black-owned brick and mortar in Brandywine, MD. Our County, Prince George’s, is one of the most affluent predominately African American counties in the country with only a handful of black owned breweries starting up like us. Our name has two meanings behind it; 1) Scientifically - The process of water flowing through malts and hops to make wort which is needed to create liquid, 2) We want to intrude on a market that is underrepresented by African-Americans. African-Americans only account for less than 1% of all breweries across the country. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, your background, orientation, beliefs, ANYTHING, it’s all about the LIQUID! If we stay true to that……
MAY THE LIQUID ALWAYS PREVAIL!
