INTRODUCING 3 DAYS OF FESTIVAL 3 NIGHTS OF CAMPING Whoop & Hollar Folk Festival is now a weekend-long event with many hours of live music Friday night, all day Saturday, and Sunday afternoon! Enjoy one day, enjoy two, or enjoy the whole weekend. Tent camping Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday night (free with weekend pass!). Throughout the festival, we will be featuring a variety of workshops and activities, children's entertainment, artisans, food vendors, nature trails, dancing, and jam sessions. EARLY BIRD TICKET PRICES APRIL 26 - AUGUST 1 Whoop & Hollar Folk Festival passes will be available at an early bird price starting April 26th at the Open Mic & Jam Night (Royal Canadian Legion Branch #65, 275 Duke Ave., Portage)! Early Bird tickets will also be sold at Hill's Drug Store and online at whoopandhollar.com until August 1st. The festival has created a variety of Sliding Scale price options, inclusive for everyone: 1. Volunteer - FREE festival pass plus meal on the days you volunteer and a rich experience 2. New Citizens to Canada - FREE festival pass as part of ICC's Cultural Access Program 3. Early Bird ticket prices - Available to all Apr. 26-Aug. 1 4. Group discounts - 10 or more people; 50% off (tell your friends and family) 5. Family discounts - Up to 6 family members (max. 3 adults) 6. Youth/student discounts - For youth age 13-17 and students 18+ with valid student ID 7. Children 12 and under - FREE 8. Unemployed or underemployed that are unable to volunteer - We are willing to work with you because we want you here. Contact us ahead at info@whoopandhollar.com or call us at 204-428-6800. 9. Nursing home residents/hospital patients - Please contact festival to discuss discounts for your facility's group if under 10 people 10. FREE shuttle service - Whoop & Hollar offers complimentary return shuttle service at specified times, from Portage la Prairie to the festival site A ticket sponsorship opportunity is also available for individuals who would like to come and can't afford to come. If you would like to support this initiative, you can buy a support ticket or specify a donation amount to be given as support tickets to a charitable organization/someone in need in our community. VOLUNTEERS, JOIN US The festival is very proud of our volunteer community who have supported us over the past six years. We look forward to adding to our team of appreciated volunteers as the festival continues to grow. Jenn Allstar is the festival's new Volunteer Coordinator and we are thrilled to welcome her to the new position! Starting late March/early April, Jenn will be in touch with all the new and returning volunteers. Peter Scar, last year's volunteer coordinator, has taken on the position of Diversity & Outreach. If you love live music, being a part of something special, and sharing your positive energy with others, then volunteering at Whoop & Hollar is for you. COME FOR THE OPEN MIC, STAY FOR THE JAM The Whoop & Hollar Open Mic & Jam Nights take place the last Friday of the month (until April) at Royal Canadian Legion Branch #65, 275 Duke Ave., Portage la Prairie. If you have any creative material you'd like to perform or try out in front of a supportive audience, or if you simply want to see what talent shows up to perform, the Open Mic runs from 7-9pm with registration beginning at 6:30. These performances are followed by a public jam session running from 9-11pm. Food and drink for purchase; cover by donation. Next dates are March 29th and April 26th. See you there! FOLK ALLIANCE: MONTREAL 2019 Whoop & Hollar's Linda, Mitchell, and Josh visited Montreal in February to attend the 2019 Folk Alliance International Conference and Festival. While there, they took part in artist showcases, networking events, and workshops that focused on topics such as diversity/cultural representation and professional development for rural festivals. THANK YOU, WHOOPERS! A huge shout-out to all the supporters, fans, and performers of Whoop & Hollar for making the festival happen and bringing life to the music scenes of Portage la Prairie and Manitoba! Thanks to all of you, the festival has recently been nominated for an award—a Winnipeg Independent Music Award (Brewno) for Small Festival. You can vote for the festival and your favourite Manitoba artists at beerforbreakfast.fm. Awards are announced March 30th, with a celebration open to everyone on April 6th at Shannon's Irish Pub in Winnipeg.
