The Town Government works diligently to maintain the overall health of the Town's financial condition for today and into the future. An annual budget is prepared in accordance with New York State regulations and finances are managed carefully throughout the year to preserve to ensure services are delivered while controlling costs and taxes. There are many financial challenges associated with municipal cost management to overcome during this process, such as New York State minimum wage escalation and increasing health insurance costs. Over the 9 year period from 2011 through 2019, Town tax levies have increased on average by 1.7% per year (equivalent to average inflation increase over same period). Refer to the chart below for a year-over-year Town budget comparison, provided in terms of revenue generated, taxes collected and appropriated fund balances, along with tax rates for the period of the current year and the preceding eight years (TOV - Town Outside Village, TIV - Town Inside Village). We will continue to work hard on behalf of Town residents to responsibly ensure the continued financial health of the Town of Wheatland. Enjoy the Spring season here in Wheatland! - Linda Dobson, Town Supervisor |

After graduating from Caledonia Mumford High School, I began my career with the Town of Wheatland Highway Department at the age of 19 with a hand shovel and flag. I worked my way up through the ranks serving in various capacities, including as a crew leader and general foreman for the past several years. Over the course of my employment I have worked on nearly every road and street in the Town of Wheatland, laying out and maintaining these highways along with many County roads within Monroe County. Its my pleasure to work for the Town of Wheatland Highway Department, helping keep our roads in top operating condition to provide for safe travels for Town residents and everyone else who uses these roads every day. Welcome to the Highway & Parks Department ! The mission of the Town of Wheatland Highway and Parks Department is to efficiently and effectively manage the care and maintenance of the Town's road infrastructure, parks and properties providing for safe and convenient usage by residents and all others. In order to accomplish this mission, the department operates and maintains a fleet of vehicles, including trucks and a variety of heavy construction equipment. The Highway & Parks Department provides four types of major services for the community: - Highway maintenance and improvement

"My Wife Linda and I moved to the Town of Wheatland in 1983 and raised our family of four children here. We both grew up in smaller communities and wanted our children to have a similar experience. We really like Wheatland's small town, rural and cordial atmosphere, including being able to know so many of the people who live and work in our town. Wheatland has really the best of all worlds for us, being close to the amenities of the greater Rochester area while living in a small town setting. It's a wonderful place to have a family, get involved in the community and make a real difference". Share what you "like" about the Town of Wheatland with a quote, and/or a picture for the Town of Wheatland Website. Call the Town at (585) 889-1553 or send and email. |
