Fall is in the air! We’ve all been busy, so read on for some important updates. Let’s build an equitable and just Greater Pittsburgh together! |
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our September full network meeting! It was our largest to date, with many first-time attendees! Anne Wright of CMU CREATE Lab shared some important data and information about housing and eviction prevention, and Dr. Tracey Conti of the Black Equity Coalition described that coalition’s work addressing COVID-19 and the connections between housing and health. Additional resources from both presentations can be found in the meeting notes below. |
Important note: The residential evictions moratorium in Allegheny County expires October 31st. If you or someone you know is in need of help staying in your home or navigating other services, contact RentHelpPGH (renthelppgh.org) by calling (412) 534-6600 (for English) or (412) 530-5244 (for Spanish). |

From the EJGP Project Team Desk |
Members of the EJGP Project Team will be representing EJGP at this month’s Greater Pittsburgh Non-profit Partnership Summit. As of now, we will be participating in three sessions, all on Thursday 10/14. In the first, we will be facilitating breakout sessions discussing the intersections of the issues covered in the morning panels and how to center people in policy work. A second session will talk about the American Rescue Plan act, and the third will be a panel discussing the value of networks. |
We’re pleased to announce the EGJP Advisory Group! This group of neighborhood and issue-focused leaders meets every other month. Together with the EJGP project team, they discuss network activities, priorities, and structures; strategize how this network can help create equitable and just outcomes for the people affected most; and share and connect campaigns and relevant programs (among other things). You can find a list of the advisory group members on the EJGP website, linked below. |
If you may be interested in joining the advisory group in the future, please contact Ivette Mongalo-Winston at ivette@mongalo-winston.com. |

The Get the Lead Out (GTLO) Campaign along with Lead Safe Allegheny are hosting a summit on lead and related issues on Thursday, October 28th. The “Life Without Lead: Envisioning a Lead Safe Community For All” Summit will bring local and national community leaders, policymakers, advocates, scientists, and families together to discuss progress to date, needed actions, and available resources. Attendance is free, but registration is required. In addition, the GTLO campaign continues to push for significant reductions in the number of children with lead poisoning in Allegheny County. The campaign anticipates Pittsburgh City Council introducing the Lead Safety Law this fall. Click on the “Campaign info” button below to learn more and sign the petition. |

American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) Funds |
The Economic Justice Circle (EJC) continues to advocate for equity, transparency, and community leadership in the decision-making process. The EJC/EJGP ARPA team is strategizing for the short, medium, and long term. We’re thinking about how to increase awareness of ARPA and how people can get more involved in advocating for the equitable use of funds in their city, municipality, school district, and county. To connect, contact Jason Beery at jason@urbankind.org. |
