It seems very strange that it was less than 3 weeks ago that so many of us were gathered at our 3rd annual gala. Life sure has changed significantly in these weeks. As an organization, we've had to figure out how to be a community of support to those we serve when we're unable to be physically together. It's been challenging, but we like challenges. As you can image, our "Boonies" are handling this just like the awesome people they are. They are encouraging of one another, share (divide) their troubles and multiply their joys. For most, this is NOT the most difficult thing they've faced, however for many it triggers feelings of anxiety similar to what they faced with their cancer diagnosis. Community continues to be healing, even when we are apart. In fact, we meet virtually multiple times a week! We are meeting regularly for virtual Courage Club Trivia every Tuesday night and a Survivor-led Bible Study in Zoom on Wednesdays. Thursdays are for fun like this week's Style Session with local boutique owner Renee Smith from Subtle & Sass Boutique. Monday will kick off our first Fitness Force virtual workout class in our "Never Miss a Monday" series. We monitor and adjust, and meet the needs. Your continued support makes it all possible. Financial assistance for our patients continues to be available as does support from our cancer guide, our volunteer therapist, etc. Cancer doesn't stop- and neither do we. Thank you for your continued support, and for a wonderfully successful and encouraging gala this year, which helped launch us into this difficult time with full hearts! Community is healing. Thank you for being our community! -Katherine |

Courage Club Corner Many of our Boonies attended our gala in March as honored guests. A few weren't feeling well and wisely chose to stay home that evening. Somehow we missed a couple who were present in our group photo- but you can tell from the smiles that it was a fun night for all! Thank you for making it possible. Our face to face events are suspended for the time being. We will continue to offer multiple virtual meet ups in Zoom each week. Courage Club members should RSVP to events on FB group and use the link in the event to access each meeting. |

THE BOON PROJECT IN THE NEWS Over the last few weeks, we were fortunate enough to have several news outlets and publications share about our programs, mission, and founding. I especially enjoyed speaking at length with Mr. Kerry King from Wake Forest Magazine about what led me to start The Boon Project in 2017. I invite you to read his story at the link. He did a wonderful job capturing who we are and where we came from. WAKE FOREST MAGAZINE |
