I have just focused on staying positive and looking at this as an opportunity to come back stronger for 2019. I initially thought I could be ready to race by December and get on the start line at Challenge Daytona as that race sounds really amazing. Then reality started to hit, the bones weren't healing as speedily as I had hoped, and my ability to do any "real" training wasn't actually happening. It is actually quite hard to train for triathlon with no arms, so I have thrown in the towel on 2018.
My full focus is on a total recovery and getting back to full strength as my body allows that to happen. I am going into the 2019 season with a fresh outlook on everything and am making some changes that I believe will have me stepping on the start line stronger and having a fresh outlook on racing.
A bit early, but best wishes to everyone over the holiday season and I will update you in early 2019 on where things are at and what the race schedule is looking like once I have a better idea on how my body is recovering. Thanks again for all of the support, through the best of times and the toughest times, I couldn't get through this without amazing support.
