SKINT

News about the evolution of an installation in the making

SKINT began as a work about poverty which is precarious to represent in images without falling into stereotypes and pathos.

I soon found that my attention was becoming centered around WANT: lack/desire simultaneously.

The gnawing emotional gap that needs to be filled by food, drugs, sex, material objects, beauty, fame, youth, education, health, purpose, spiritual enlightenment…..

Thirst/craving/longing is amplified when basic needs are not met but is present in all social classes.

A desire for more or enough?

The original intention of SKINT was to create a frieze the length of the Bayeux Tapestry depicting “daily battles” principally in connection to financial struggle.

The work has since developed new elements which will be presented to you next time.

See you then!
