There was a very encouraging response to the first circular. Southern Deserts 6 will be held in Walvis Bay, from Monday 26th to Friday 30th August 2024, at the Pelican Bay Hotel conference venue. There are several other accommodation options within walking distance.
Southern Deserts 6 will focus on deserts as people’s landscapes: the environment and resources of desert communities, their archaeological, historical and remembered past. As always, Southern Deserts is also a forum for new research in the deserts of the southern hemisphere, ranging from palaeoenvironments to mining and the industrialization of Southern Hemisphere desert landscapes.
We are now calling for presentation TITLES and ABSTRACTS, to be submitted by the end of December this year. Proposals for special sessions and posters are most welcome, as are proposals for activities, exhibitions and other events that could form part of the programme.
