The City of Joliet Supports BGC Joliet Through Giving Tree The Boys & Girls Club of Joliet would like to express our deepest gratitude to our friends and partners at the City of Joliet for partnering with us for Christmas by sponsoring a very special Giving Tree for Club members that need us the most! The original plan was to have the Giving Tree displayed at City Hall to attract support from city staff and elected officials as we led up to Christmas. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, we had to improvise and promote the tree in a digital format and we were excited to learn that many of the tags had still been committed to! Special thank you to David Braner, Boys & Girls Club of Joliet Board member and City of Joliet CIO, for facilitating this partnership/promoting it digitally, as well as Kirsten Benson, for being an amazing project leader on this partnership initiative and to all of the generous city staff and elected officials for participating! We are proud to live in a city that promotes generosity and goodwill towards our youth! |

Scouting Returns at BGC Joliet with Virtual Den Meetings Scouting is back at the Boys & Girls Club of Joliet! Our officially chartered Scout Pack, Pack 226, has resumed den meetings in a virtual format! Troop 226 is also slated to begin soon! Our Scout leader, Nora Briceno, was excited for the kids to return to Scouting, but not nearly as ecstatic as the kids themselves! Special thank you to our Scout Committee leader, Lee Gunter (and family), our Scout Leader, Nora Briceno and Rainbow Council, Boy Scouts of America Executives, Daniel Stromberg and Jarvis Franklin, for paving the way to make this happen! The Boys & Girls Club of Joliet is able to offer scouting to both boys and girls for no charge, thanks to a partnership with Rainbow Council, Boy Scouts of America, through the Scout Reach Program, which is funded by The United Way of Will County. If you would like to sign your child up for scouting, we still have room! Contact Nora at jolietbgc@gmail.com if you are interested. |
