Making Iceland Gumboro free!
Gumboro of Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) is avery virulent disease in chickens and is easily spread from infected chickens to healthy chickensthrough food, water, and physical contact. The virus can survive for long periods in both housing and water.
On every farm, there are many people accessing the farm and may come into contact with the animals. Each one can carry pathogens onto the farm and therefore precautionary measures need to be taken. When these measures are followed thoroughly, no additional animal-free contact period is required, however this can still be imposed by the farmer or government.
