Dear Friends & Colleagues, April Newsletter Offerings Listed Further Below How are you feeling this spring? I'm enjoying the warmer weather, but many of us are also experiencing ongoing uncertainty related to the pandemic, plus looming concern and grief related to news of devastation and fighting in Ukraine and Russia. These are reminders that there is much in life over which we have little or no control. Experiencing feelings of lack of control can be very uncomfortable and anxiety-provoking. I encourage patients and clients to allow themselves to feel their feelings. What emotions are you experiencing? Can you be understanding with yourself, as you might be with a friend or patient? Validating our feelings helps us avoid the secondary pain of judging ourselves for how we feel. In the Finding Stillness through Mindfulness, Meditation, and Yoga Nidra series, we practice being mindful of our emotions and learn how to work with them in a meaningful way. (To join this series read further below). In this month's Virtual Grad Lounge, we will discuss the theme of "Letting Go". Radically accepting our emotions can help us get "unstuck" from unhealthy patterns. Acceptance, seemingly paradoxically, leads to change. Practice: Can you be kind to yourself when you experience difficult emotions? Could you encourage yourself instead of criticizing yourself? Could you adjust your self-talk to be a little gentler? Although painful emotions and suffering do eventually pass, try to be compassionate with yourself while they are present. Remember to also get support and validation from friends, colleagues, and family or a professional if needed. -Marcia April Offerings This month I'm delighted to offer you a live interactive session and interview with Dr. Jonathan Prousky ND, an award-winning expert in supplements and mental health who will shed light on which supplements work - and which don't. Join the Virtual Grad Lounge! Meet with Marcia live online every month to ask questions and discuss new themes. Last month we focused on self-care with strategies to help you create a plan tailored to your needs with a reliable system to keep you on track. I showed you some of my favourite products - like almond oil, rose water, and special loose leaf teas - and heard your tips too! Many of you are successfully using Scheduling and Habits (from the RECHARGE program) to help make your new self-care practices stick. One participant kindly spontaneously sang us a song, and we finished by learning how to do a facial massage - what a fun session! I hope you can join us this month...
