When you're faced with a decision, what's your process to determine an answer?

Discernment goes hand-in-hand with our Wisdom series, so I thought I'd share this page from several years ago. (It's in my original journal that was so well-used I had to replace the spiral. 🤪)  In my reading of Proverbs this month, the mention of a discerning spirit is mentioned over and over again. #digdeeper

"The one with a wise heart is called discerning, and speaking sweetly to others makes your teaching even more convincing. Wisdom is a deep well of understanding opened up within you as a fountain of life for others..." Proverbs 16: 21-22

There are so many applications of this need for discernment...in our marriages, parenting, congregations...and the healing of our country. What insights re: wisdom are you gaining?

January 2021:

We're more than halfway through our 31 Days of Wisdom series. How's it going for you?

31 Days of Wisdom

Last year in CBS our group talked a lot about hearts being "stirred up" as the Holy Spirit worked. When I feel that kind of restlessness in my spirit, I often turn to Bible Quilting as a way to ground myself in the Word. Sometimes a particular word or phrase keeps swirling in my brain and that's the direction I follow as I create a page...like this one I did on UNITY, praying for the people of our nation as we undergo the transition of administrations. My focus during this time of discord is not to get political, but to get prayerful.

Did you make any resolutions for the year or start any new habits? Have a game plan how you're going to maintain your progress?

Sometimes having a unique habit tracker can inspire a little more motivation. I developed a Bible Reading Tracker that can be attached to your BQ journal like any other template, or you can use it separately and post it somewhere that boosts your accountability. (This one is uploaded into the online shop; an 8.5 x 11 size is coming.)

Bonus: If your kiddos are memorizing the books of the Bible, this BQ tracker might be a fun way to visualize them all together. Cover up the page with another sheet of paper and "reveal" the next book as they say it aloud. You'll both learn where they need a little more help.

Your kids can use this as a coloring sheet to learn how each name is spelled and as a talking point re: main characters of each book. If you have a kinesthetic learner, have him trace his finger sequentially through the WORD...he'll have to know when to jump to the next letter or which curve to take. Lots of possibilities to make it interactive!

Imperfect hearts | Biblequiltjournal.com

I started playing around with some heart designs the other day, intending on making them into a balanced, pretty template. I traced a couple using a heart-shaped cookie cutter and did some freehand.

Continuing to pray for our country's healing, using this BQ page I made the other day on Hope & Healing. Old hymns provide us with historical perspective and an interesting synthesis of relatable scriptures.

Hope to see you on Tuesday's Zoom chat!
