What’s Happening

Congratulations! We finally made it to the end of 2020! It has certainly been a year of change. A rollercoaster of a year with lots of ups and downs and the odd loop-de-loop. We are all too aware of the many downs we have experienced this year so I'm going to focus on the ups and I'd like to some of mine with you.

In January, I started knitting koala toys to sell through my website and donate the money to animal rescue shelters to help the wildlife affected by the drought and bushfires. If you would like one of my koalas, you can order them through my website.

I am also very proud of myself for recording and releasing 2 of my own songs this year. I was overwhelmed by the response "Nice To See You" received. The love and support you have all shown me has encouraged me so much. The release of "Time" was a huge accomplishment for me both professionally and personally and confirmed how important this new album is.

I will have another new song for you in the New Year and I will let you know when to expect the full album.

With 2020 coming to an end I have decided to conclude my weekly livestreams on facebook. It cetainly has been a year of learning and I can't believe I used to be so scared of "going live".

My first shows were during lockdown on my balcony so my neighbours could also listen. One of the most memorable was my ANZAC Day performance when my neighbour who is in the Navy asked me to perform "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda".

Thank you to all of you who have listened and supported my livestream shows and stay tuned for some one-off special events in the future.

Gig Guide

My Picks

It is so great to see the live music scene picking back up again in Sydney's Inner West. There are so many things happening so keep your eyes and ears open. The Duke of Enmore is proving to be the new heart of country music with gigs happening on Thursday and Friday nights. This Thursday you can catch Lozz Benson on her auto-harp and Jy-Perry Banks aka Mr Hearts on Friday. The Salisbury Hotel is also having country music every Sunday and Willie the Boatman will be hosting Carols in the Brewery on Gravy Day (that is, 21st of December).

The Big Question

Question 5: What is your favourite country Christmas song?

Well my favourite Christmas song is not by a country artist. I have to say that growing up I loved listening to mum's 45 of Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" and my favourite was the way he and the Andrews Sisters performed Jingle Bells. I was a little stuck on a country Christmas song and then it occurred to me that the song I love performing most is "Aussie Jingle Bells" That would have to be my favourite country Christmas song. It always brings a smile whether I'm singing it to my kindergarten students or the oldies at the nursing home!

Send me your answer to the Big Question by reply email or message me on fb and I'll put it in the next newsletter.
