A letter from the Chair
Hello on this beautiful spring day,
Mother’s Day is right around the corner and I wanted to share some quotes that just make me smile.
“A mother understands what a child does not say.” - Jewish proverb
“The world needs our mothers.” -L. Kebede
“Life began with waking up and loving my mother’s face.” - G. Eliot
“A mother is always the beginning. She is how things begin.” - Unknown
“There is no influence so powerful as that of the mother.” - S. Hale
“All that I am, or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.” - A. Lincoln
As lactation consultants, delivery nurses, midwives, pediatricians, and other providers, we support mothers who come to us during a very vulnerable time. It has even been called a sacred time. Many of the mothers we encounter will have come to us with difficult “mother memories” of their own and they are bravely redefining what motherhood will look like for their own children.
What a great work they have chosen to take on!
I know that there will be memories made and feelings held of our encounters with these mothers for decades to come. This is a privilege indeed. As we celebrate Mother’s Day this year, let us celebrate these brave mothers who have invited us to be a part of their story!
Warmly,
Lynnelle King
