Aces and Places
Angela Shorthand has made it back to the UK for her daughters wedding.    Our condolences to Alice and the Gerrans family on the passing of Ross Gerrans.  Congratulations to John Di Noto on his engagement.  Lots of Hensman people spotted in Broome over the winter including Trish Haffenden, Mike McLean, Peter and Alys Woods and Nick De Wolfe.  Roger Nicholas has celebrated his sapphire wedding anniversary and Ray Ferguson his 70th birthday.  
 
Congratulations to Ella Nurkic and Matt Burton on their selection in the WA Pizzey Cup (WA Schoolboys/girls) Team.  Also congratulations to sponsor New Choice Homes who are a finalist in the national MBA Housing Excellence Awards.  Mike McLean has received the great honour of being inducted into the inaugural Perth Footbal League Umpires Associatiuon Hall of Fame.
 
Our opening day raffle of a voucher to Soklich & Co was won by Bob Wegner and Alys Woods won first prize in our raffle for those members who had paid their fees by 9th October.

Tenniswest Awards Night
The awards night was held on 8 October.  Congratulations to Cameron Burton as the inaugural Kent Yamazaki Award Winner and James Connelly for winning the Development Coach of the Year.  The club was a finalist for "Large Club of the Year" and "Tournament of the Year".  Although not successful in winning either category, it was certainly good to be recognised for the hard work that has been done around the club in the past year.  Also pictured are the State League teams who were presented as the 2020/21 winners..... becoming only the second club in history to win the Ladies and Mens in the same year.

Summer Season Opening
We had a fantastic opening to the summer season on 9th October.
Mayor Greg Milner officially opened the club.  We had all the courts full with social tennis, radar speed gun for serving and Team Tennis and the State League teams hitting with plenty of our juniors.
My thanks to June Rundle and her helpers for afternoon tea and the sausage sizzle and to Ellen Lynch for such a well planned day.
We also presented Ken McIntosh with the Club Member of the Year Award for his tireless work in imporving our grounds - very well deserved.

WA Bruce Cup Team
Congratulations to Jovana Novakovic, Isabella McKenzie, Karin Hiramatsu, Elena Manoj and Zayah Baker on being selected in this team.  This is the state 12 & under team - unfortunately, due to Covid they are unable to travel to compete against other states.

Wine Tasting Night
A good crowd turned up for our wine tasting night held on 8 September.  We tasted a range of wines from the Deep Woods winery who are part of the Fogarty Wine Group.  The wines were excellent quality and were offered to members with a significant discount. Thanks to Dave Ford James Williams and Ellen Lynch for their organisation.
 
Rumour is the President even plied the crowd with his home made chocolate!

LED Light Installation
The new LED lights have been installed and are a huge step forward for the club.  The light coverage is fantastic and as well as that, we should save significant electricity and repair costs each year... plus a step up in reliability.  The upgrade is funded 1/3 by the club, the South Perth Council and the State Government.

Upcoming Events
Come and celebrate the race that stops a nation at our Melbourne Cup Tennis and Luncheon.  Bookings required for catering purposes.
We are having a Sponsors Afternoon to thank all our terrfiic sponsors for their support and provide a networking event on 12 November.
We are holding a Ladies State League match under lights on Friday on 10 December.
