June 2022

The preservation of rent regulated apartments is paramount to keeping families living in Upper Manhattan out of already overcrowded homeless shelters and in safe and habitable homes.

As of January 7, 2022, prior to the eviction moratorium being lifted, there were 5,692 eviction filings in these Manhattan neighborhoods. We urge the Rent Guideline Board (RGB) to consider the violent impact a rent increase would have on hard working families. Thousands are already rent burdened at no fault of their own. Thanks to our State Senator Robert Jackson for testifying his recent testimony to the Rent Guideline Board.
