Welcome to this week's update on Colombo's meal deals, food delivery and events. Sincere apologies that the newsletter is a bit late again this week. Hopefully we'll be back to normal next week! There's not so many discounted food deals at the moment, probably a reflection on rising costs and lower earnings. We are sharing what information we find and we do encourage everyone to support the restaurants, cafes and home bakeries by ordering a meal when you can. And if you like what you get then tell people, post it, #EveryMealHelps. We're working on a follow up to last month's "Day of Support" and we'll tell you more soon. We also keep searching for online events and it's great to see a few more local bands doing livestreams, and some local comedy last week. We've got a wide variety of online events listed in the weekly diary, from wellness to business, from USA, UK, Singapore and more. Do please let us know what events you enjoy, or even if you don't like any at all. We relish any and all feedback and want to give you ideas that you would most enjoy. Keep Safe and Stay Well . If you like this, please sign up below and forward it to your friends to subscribe. |

Breakfast and Lunch We haven't found any new breakfasts this week, so wanted to do a "Throwback Thursday" and remind you about Asylum, one of the first places to offer breakfast delivery. We suspect that they have fixed many a hangover this year! Asylum offer a wide choice of breakfast, from a simple avocado toast or a bacon & egg salad to a full classic big breakfast. They even offer okonomiyaki, a Japanese noodle omelette. They deliver from 9am to 9pm. Pizza Lunch? There are a couple of good deals. Mama Louie's have a midweek deal from Monday to Wednesday, two large pizzas for Rs2490. This is applicable for three varieties of pizza. Another deal is available from Smoke Bricks: Buy one large pizza and get a second half price; buy any two large pizzas and get a third free. You just have to share - or have a huge appetite! If you're a more traditional, curry & rice person, then check out Spiced Up's daily lunch menu from Rs480 including a chicken or fish curry, rice, and 3 or 4 side dishes. They also have a standard Everyday menu, with chicken curry at Rs500 for two, and Dahl or Polos for two at Rs200. These all need to be ordered in advance. Big Plate have brought out an "8 in One" combo offer of 4 shawarmas, 2 colas and 2 chocolate brownies for Rs2,299. You can choose from five types of shawarma, or go for a mixed one. This is a limited time offer so grab it while you can. And one more new lunch idea, for if you can't decide or if several of you want different tastes. Pink Platter offer a range of burgers, sandwiches, cutlets, shawarmas and finger food like patties and rolls. They also have some ice creams, cakes and desert jars.

High Tea and Dinner: We found some more Indian snacks that would make a great high tea. The Chaat Co are offering a Dahi Puri, Samosa Chaat and a Jalebi or Gulab for Rs600. Alternatively, if you prefer something a bit more substantial, you can get 6 Pani Puri and Dahi Puri, a Samosa Chaat and a Gulab Jamun for Rs990. For a more western Afternoon Tea, Bakes by Bella have introduced an afternoon high tea box with 7 savoury items including panko shrimp mac & cheese balls and soft shell tacos, and 8 sweet items including pavlova and fudge brownies, plus scones and jam. This treat is priced at Rs3200 for two people and is available daily except Monday. Do you like salmon? If you answered yes then check out Momo's "Salmon Menu". It includes salmon linguini, baked salmon, terikiyaki, even salmon pizza! Back to Indian food and Chana's have launched a "buffet in a box" containing three starters, curry, biriyani and nan and a dessert. It's priced at Rs2790 for two people or Rs4890 for four and is available for another two weeks. King of the Mambo are now delivering! So if you've been craving some South American or Cuban food, you can now get it brought to your door. And, you get 20% off if you order direct from them! There's also a couple of "buy one get one free" offers: Chicken Chopsuey Rice from China Express or Grilled Chicken Cubes ad Sausages on Mongolian Rice from the Sizzle - the latter is available until 26 September.
